I went to a local gun show today and while I was walking around I see this Colt Detective Special that is really nice, the blue finish is perfect like it's never seen a holster. So I walked around some more.
I come back to this Colt and look at the bore and charge holes, absolutely pristine. Now I'm not a gun expert but I would call it unfired. So I ask the guy if he can take off the tie so I can check the trigger and he does.
Now I have read some of you guys talk about old Colts locking up like a bank vault but I've never seen one till I checked this gun at full lock up, it was like a rock, like one piece of metal.
So I ask this guy about this gun and he says that he is the original owner and bought it in 1979.
He says that he's put less than a box of shells through it. So I check the bore again with my angled pen light. Perfect.
The guy wants 375 for it so I walk around some more.
Good decision, bad decision, it was my decision....so I took that baby home.
The guy tells me if I'll give him 375 then he will cover the taxes and trow in a Pachmayr rubber grip for it (like I would ever take off the originals)
Got some pics for you, can't wait to take it to the range
