Colt and snake guns

I'm glad to hear revolvers are making a comeback, IMHO they are still the best home defense handgun.

IF and when it happens, I'll take a look at one. But IF they choose to build another revolver and choose to call it some sort of snake name, it will still be based on the Mark III or V action. Some things are history and most of the true snake guns are just collectors items now for the most part if they are in reasonable condition. They sell at ridiculously high prices, people keep them for a few years and sell again at ridiculously higher prices.

I think a big part of it is that there are a lot more people choosing to carry small concealable pocket guns than ever before. Airweight J frames do well in this regard.

There are also a lot more women choosing to carry a gun for their own safety than ever before. Slide manipulation is sometimes a stumbling point for women shooters. Also, the simplicity of revolver operations is a draw for new shooters also, so I don't think revolvers will go anywhere soon.

And of course Colt, with their usual astute and far-sighted appraisal of the market and the industry future, chose to drop their light revolver line just when concealed carry laws were being relaxed. Way to go, Colt!

This happens, oh I don't know...

EVERY SINGLE YEAR.

This rumor pops up. Sorry, but it's not going to happen. Colt couldn't build a good DA revolver if their lives depended on it, not anymore.

It's called wishful thinking...

Colt can introduce a new revolver. The question is can they produce one that satisfies it's potential customers, that retails at a level they will pay, and sell enough of them to make a respectable profit?

Colt's perspective buyers often have high expectations that aren't always reasonable considering today's manufacturing environment.

And it would have to make headway in a market that's largely turned toward polymer/nylon framed, high capacity pistols that are both money-makers and attractively priced.

All this is a tall order. :uhoh:
