Just had to share my good fortune in spotting this hard to find .22lr Walther PP clone. The Daewoo DP52 was imported by Kimber for only a few years in the '90's. I also own a Walther PP in .22lr so I am able to do a direct comparison. IMHO the Daewoo compares very favorably. The fit and finish on the all steel pistol is excellent although the finish is a utilitarian Glock like dull gray instead of Walther's sleek bluing. The Daewoo's sights and trigger are better. My only complaint is that the left grip panel has a thumb rest. I'd prefer a flat silhouette. The mag hold 10 rounds.

I almost missed this gem, tucked into a corner of a glass topped display. The price was much lower than I would have expected. The condition was perfect. I think this one will turn into a safe queen as I already have one that I shoot fairly often. If you enjoy .22lr pistol, keep your eyes open for one of these fine pistols to fondle and inspect. A great .22 to be sure.

looks nice. I assume that finger grove is there for import points like the PA63's

Nice score :). I've had several FEG's just like it, the last of which was the pa-63. They're also really close to some of the Bersa Thunders like 2 tone 380 acp Bersa Thunder I like to carry. I bet it's a really nice shooter and not near as Snappy as the 32 / 380 / 9mm variants :) ...

The going rate for something like that around here is about $300. Although they make: cars, machine guns, ship machinery which means their handguns are very good almost nobody coming in will say oh wow a Daewoo. Apparent soundness and apparent quality does not Trump obsqurity. Sad but true. Nice gun.

I beg to differ. The last few I've seen sell on-line went for well over $500. One went for $632. This is a pretty rare gun of high quality. I agree that only a dedicated "gun nut" would recognize the value. My good luck.

Here's a pic with my first DP52 and a Walther PP as a comparison.

Rarity means few were sold because hardly anyone bought them. Handgun people stay away from something they are not familiar with or never heard of. I would have zero problem selling something like that for $500 or more if I had one.

Just picked up a DP51 for $350, LNIB, with 2 mags. Its sort of a love child between a S&W 59 and a Beretta 92.
Nice gun! Their 5.56 rifles have a bit of a following too.
Much better than their dreadful cars. After GM bought a controlling interest in their auto business, they rebranded them as Suzuki's, over that company's vocal objections. A Suzuki exec said in an interview a few years ago that the "unreal" number of warranty claims against the rebadged Daewoos were a major factor in Suzuki's withdrawal from the US market.

The $350 for unused gun in box with papers is about the most I would pay for something like this.

Great find! ... I would think $400 - $500 would be fair for one in excellent condition

My thoughts exactly. Which is why I was happy to find this one at $306. Years ago I bought one off a internet site but this is the only one for sale that I've seen in person. The guy selling it said "Most people don't know what this is." Makes me wish I could find it's .380 model as well but they're hard to find as well.

At that price that was an excellent deal. I like the PPK style pistols and have an Interarms PPK/S and two Bersa's all in .380. I saw last week that Bersa offers a .22 LR in their Thunder Series. My LGS guy told me he could get me one for $265 which is an attractive price. There are a couple of shows in the Houston area between now and X-Mas so I'm going to put that on a back burner for now. I had fair luck at a couple of small shows earlier this year so you never know.

I also have a Bersa BT22, which is a pretty good gun. Lots of nice features and inexpensive but is ammo sensitive. You have to use high velocity ammo or face malfunctions. That's one thing I like about the Daewoo, it shoots any and all ammo I've run through it.

I'm guessing most blowback action .22 LR pistols manufactured in the last 20 years suffers from some form of "ammo sensitivity". My Walther P22 taught me that. I have at least two ammo cans of CCI Stinger, Veloceter and Mini Mag with some Winchester Super X thrown in.
Had a Jennings .22 I picked up for $40 about thirty years ago that would eat anything. Kept it in a plastic zip lock in my tackle box for years. Probably put around three thousand rounds through it with the occasional hiccup. Literally fell apart one day when I was out plinking.
