I am going to the local gun show in Bangor on outer Broadway. I plan to attend both today and tomorrow to look for any deals. It is IMHO cheap entertainment. I will be looking at price trends compared to last year especially. I will be sure to post any good finds if I buy them.:D

If you go to this one or any other gun shows this season please give your take on local trends in pricing/availability compared to the last couple of years if you can. Curious minds and all that.:scrutiny::thumbup:

I haven't been to a show in three (?) years or so. There is one close in a week or so. I never go alone so I'll see if my shooting/reloading buddy is free.

Good idea.

The Dallas Arms Gun & Knife Show, which bills itself as the "Largest Show in Texas" is held 5 times a year. The next one on September 23-24 at Market Hall (2200 Stemmons). $10 admission. Free Parking. 1500 tables renting at $70 each.

I have a conflict that weekend so I won't be able to attend, but maybe another THR member in the area would like to attend and report on their findings.

So the past work week was a real killer and just now got a moment to look what I did purchase over a little bit. It was a heavy barrel AR style target rifle. More on that with a picture or two later. The show was not that crowded on Sat and the people were mostly friendly. Some fair prices on firearms and some really insanely high prices as well. Mostly on the dealers trying to recover what they overpaid on AR style firearms as of late I think. It appears that the revolvers like the Ruger Blackhawks have gone up in price by about 1/3 since I last purchased one 8 years ago (around $375ish for a used one). There were people purchasing them for those prices there today so I feel the prices are now about what the local guys will stand for. I may have been the only one to get a great deal though judging on the prices. A couple was selling all their reloading supplies/gear for more than current retail so I passed that up. One guy there had the boxes of old ammo in plastic shrink wrap as well as older firearms related books for sale. That was interesting to poke through but I did not buy. I resisted the urge to buy any cheap knives, beef jerky. or the overpriced red hot dogs. A new local leather holster maker, his gear looked quite nice for the cost posted but I was all set on those as well for now. All in all well worth the price of admission even if I had not purchased a firearm. Great way to spend a Saturday afternoon IMHO.

Yeah, I've seen that at other places, recently.

It's like when they got hold of the brass or lead it underwent some sort of alchemy and became gold.

So I got to try it out this afternoon with Tula 55 grain FMJ that I had in an AR mag already. Set up 5 skeet at 100 YDS and shot at them ofhand. They all exploded or cracked with the hit. I am even more happy than before. Now for the particulars that I know, and feel free if you see anything that I don't ID.

Eagle Arms by ArmaLite lower
20 inch 5.56 SS medium weight barrel with 8.5 twist unknown maker
ATN scope with lit reticle for 223 unsure of model
compensator as pictured
with weighted forend it weighs 10.5 LBS
I have yet to take it apart and see what other secrets it will show me.:D I suspect it is a franken build but is fairly accurate for a $500 investment. More pix below
