Today, I went to the gun show at Dallas Market Hall. Overall, I was pleased at what I saw. I was somewhat pleased to see more Russian ammo than I had seen in about the past year, though suprisingly high. I saw single boxes of Wolf 7.62x39 going for $4-5 a box. At a dealer who happens to carry my favorite pistol ammo (Silver Bear), I asked if he knew when he might be getting some Silver Bear 45 ACP (it's cheap and I've had less problems with it than I have had with WWB). He said that his distributor is not expecting any Russian ammo for at least 3 months. He the said he thinks it will be longer. He stated that he had seen an article stating that the Russian factories will be tied up for the next year producing ammo for military contracts.

I went to that show today too. I had the best time I've had at a show in years. I am from Amarillo, where the shows are 1/3 the size of this one. I went to every table, talking to the vendors, like I normally do. I did not make it to one-half of the tables in 8 hours. What a great time!:D

I purchased concealment holsters that I had never seen before, leather belts for concealment, grips for my gp100, mags for my Daly double action....things that just don't make it to Amarillo for one reason or another.

My only beef is that I only have one day to give to this show (we are kinda hard up for entertainment in Amarillo;) )

I am jealous, you guys have got it good in Big D, as far as shows and gun shops go.

The only envy I could raise from any of the locals was that we have plenty of room to shoot in the Panhandle.

That is my gripe about the DFW area too. Well, that and the humidity and the traffic and the pollution and the liberals....

I was at the Market Hall show yesterday also. I thought it was a decent show. I purchased some ammo, 38 sp., 270, 30-06 and 6.5x55. I also purchased a Smith and Wesson T- shirt, and two of those little ballon helicopters for my grandson.
Oh, I almost forgot, I bought a gun too. Yes, I have come to love old S&W revolvers and I saw and old 4 screw (which means pre 1961), model 10. in good condition for a great price. I just couldn't pass it up. I bought some of the ammo at the tables where the estate sale was taking place.
My friend bought a M96 Swede, which was his fourth Swede. I have a few Swede's also.
I was a good show for us.
Now, I need to go shoot my "new" model 10.

Funny thing about gun shows, is that there is so much stuff that people miss a lot of things.

I have a table with 3 other friends there, trying to clear some personal stuff from the closet. I had 20 boxes of Sellier & Beloit 7.62x39 on the table for $4.00 a box. 6 hours into the show on Saturday, an guy I know came by and bought a few things, and offered me $2.50/box for the ammo. Figured no one else needed any, so I sold it to him. (It was in plain sight on the table too.)

It's always something!

If you are looking for Russian...

45 ACP, Cabela's has several cases of Wolf on the shelf a week ago. This Market Hall show, on a milsurp basis, was one of the better one in years. I picked up a '43 dated Enfield sling for my '43 No4, an FR8 sling, and a prestine 1909 Argy bayonet. My kitties gave me the bayonet for Father's Day according to SWMBO, who bought it for them. I noticed the AK ammo going for 4.50 a box. Just might be time to start reloading that round. It cost about 19 cents to reload and at that price it is 22 cents. Finding a FMJ at that weight might be difficult, but I have not looked either.......If SWMBO hadn't been along, I would have picked up a nice Mosin Nagant M91 and a nice Enfield 38 revolver, then suffer a severe beating when I got home.......Afterwards we went to Daddy's hamburgers over on Mockingbird for a killer hamburger.......chris3

15 minutes into the show I found my 15th Makarov.
It's a East German Mak that the dealer had chromed.
I'm not a big fan of shiny chrome guns but this one is impressive. The finish is the best one I've ever seen. The picture doesn't do it justice.

I'm a shooter, not a collector but I may keep this gun as a show piece.

I did notice the price on everything ammo related had increased. Powder and primers had gone up $2-$3 a 1,000 and a pound.
