Today I decided to try a new place to get a hair cut. Most of the time I go to the chain places, but this time I went to a real barber. It was the best idea I have made in a while. When I got into the place, there was lots of magazines layed out for reading. I happened to notice what appeared to be a revolver on the cover of one of them, so I went over to check it out. Much to my surprize, there were atleast 20 guns and ammo magazines, numerous hunting magazines, hot rod magazines, etc. I started reading the guns and ammo while waitng my turn, and it felt like I was at my house relaxing. When it was my turn to get my hair cut, I asked him about that, the barber turns out to be a big pro-gun and hunting kind of guy. I thanked him for putting the magazines out, and tipped him well. Even with the tip it was less then at the chain stores. I know where I am going to get my hair cut from now on :D

Now if only my dentist, doctor, or the people at the ER would put similar magazines out (and be pro-gun), I would be in heaven. I get tired of reading good house keeping when waiting to get stitched up :scrutiny:

I used to have a Barber that had his son in the shop sharpening customers pocket knives while they waited. The kid did a fine job and only wanted .50. I always gave him a dollar. Ahh the good ol' days.

To quote the great Al Bundy when he was looking for a real barber shop "Where the barber hates women but likes girls Peg" Congrats on your find Greg. Do they do shaves?? I know some states don't allow it now.

My barber shop sells guns. :p Seriously

Wow, that would be great! I am all for a place that I can get a hair cut, and then test out how the buzz cut works with a pistol :D.

Yep, they do shaves, I didn't have one done though, I just shaved last night. Granted I could shave again, but I will let it grow for a day or two :D

Sounds like the place I go. They even donate haircuts to the Friends of the NRA auction locally. Mounts all over the walls, good reading gets you all warm and fuzzy inside. I take my boys 4 and 2 with me and we line up and get 3 cuts plus tip for the price of 2 kids cuts without tip at the mall shop. Plus at the end they each get a quarter to buy some candy from the machines.

The place I take my cars to is like that also. A great bunch of guys that all bow hunt.

Fella's;

My barber's a female. Real female. But, her shop's got the Guns & Ammo, Hot Rod, & other male oriented magazines in the rack. Not just a few, loaded.

There's another establishment in town that's truly a man's place. Pizzeria, bar, and laundromat.

Good for You

That's great. When I'm over near Camp Pendleton CA (the world's largest Marine Corps base), I like to stop in @ "Buzz's Place", enjoy some of the hunting magazines and get it short, high & tight. One of the things that's so personal and nice there is that they even call you by your First Name - "NEXT" !!

I have one of those kind of barbers also. He has some animal mounts in the room and the G&A magazines and hunting and fishing magazines. He is more of a hunter because of supporting his son's hunting adventures. He got a big 6X6 elk in Colorado this year bow hunting. He always asks my advice on guns whenever I get my haircut. I am in need of a cut right now, gonna try to get there this Saturday.

City Barber Shop, down town Williston Fl.
Trophy deer and hogs on the wall. A good selection of shooting and hunting magazines, and barbers that hunt and shoot. No women. Moms were encouraged to go shopping, after dropping the tykes off for a trim.
Been about 6 years since I was there, but I am sure Randy and Ray are still cutting hair, and shooting the bull. (or deer, hogs turkey)

Nothing like getting a hair cut in a pro-gun barber shop

My local barber is a 01 FFL dealer, also a gunsmith, does transfers, sets up at gun shows. Sign outside his shop, " Haircuts $9, Guns slightly more".

I went to my local barber shop last week. Picture a small farm town shop here. I noticed he had a sign on the mirror for a couple of revolvers for sale and I casually asked about them as I sat down. Before he started cutting, he went to a drawer and pulled out two pistol rugs and laid them on my lap. One had a Colt Python and the other a Taurus Raging Bull 454. He got an extra tip!:D

Guns and Ammo and such at the shop in Vestavia Hills I go to.

Plus its right next to Mark's Outdoor Sports, which is second to only Simmons Sporting Goods in the Birmingham/Bessemer area!:)

My barber may not have gun magazines but he opens by 7:00 AM on Saturday. Very handy. Even more so because there's a hardware store across the parking lot.

I just had my hair cut this morning.

The "barbers" are overweight women, and the "music" is obnoxious, but I always get a good hair cut in short order. My friendly local Libertarian barber took three times as long to cut my hair, did about an equally good job, and charged three times as much.

I let my wife talk me into going to one of the chain family hair styling places instead of my usual barber. The poor little "man" who cut my hair didn't know squat about farming, tractors, politics, bird dogs, shotguns, or bowling. He did seem to know quite a bit about interior decorating and the new spring colors for window treatments. The haircut was okay but the lack of civilized conversation just about killed me. I won't be going back. My usual barber shop has been in business since 1950. They know how to carry on a conversation about pocket knives, basketball, hotrods, and fishing lures. They have the old cast iron chairs with the pump handle on the side to raise and lower the seat hight.

P.S. My dad told me there are two people you always tip: your barber and your bartender. Wise words from a wise man.

This isn't fair. All I get is either a gay guy or a metro guy to cut my hair. I'm not even in there long enough to read a magazine though. Walk in, sit down, hair washed, styled, out the door. It takes me about as much time to walk from the parking lot to the place, it's in the mall. I do park on the other side of the mall to enjoy the scenery :D along the way.

My barber is pro-gun and has plenty of Guns and Ammo,Shotgun News etc out.Somewhat amazingly,he served onboard a cruiser that provided fire support for the Soldiers and Marines evacuating Hungnam,North Korea having fought their way from the Chosin Reservoir, my Dad being one of them.

Man, you guys are lucky. The last barbershop I went to had Playboys for reading material. That was a little odd. It was in a small village a few miles over and I really got tired of hearing everyone talk about the local politics.:(

I walked into one barber shop and sat down to wait my turn. I got some funny looks before someone asked if I had an appointment. I had seen the barber pole out front so I had assumed it was a walk in barber shop.

I could never get a good high and tight from anywhere around here, either. No one would ever just jarhead it and be done with it. Now I use my own clippers and shave off all the hair once a week.:p

Well, mine is a liberal gay guy, but he does a good job and carries on a good conversation. And he recently set up shop about 1/2 block from my house. Cut/wash for $10. Reason I go: Been going since I was 15 and he originally started cutting my mom's hair and it all sort of fell into place. Now the whole family goes, I work at the same job as his partner, and he cuts my bosses hair. I found out about my promotion a week before it came down the chain to me...:D

He doesn't mind guns, and as long as we dont discuss national politics, all is hunky-dorry. It got damned heated in election season though, so we just nixxed those conversations as "agree to disagree."

I go to a guy who doesnot care that i have a 45 on my belt. he does not hunt or shoot but fishes like an addict and has some sweet iron in his garage. A 69 camaro with a blown big block and a 36 plymouth coupe with a 440 dual quad. both with 4 speeds, and clutches. as a good hot rod should.

I used to go to a "salon" the girl there was young GORGEOUS, tall and only had curves in places mr hefner would like and giggled a lot, but she did a good haircut, and never seemed to be able to give me a haircut without having to reach across me to brush some cut hair away. ahhhhhh the memories. then one day i had locked my keys in the car and called my wife and asked her to bring me a set of keys, The wife was not amused that the person cutting my hair was wearing a skirt only a foot above her knees,. so now I go to the guy with the cars and fishing mags.

I stopped going to barbers 15 years ago because I couldn't stand the mindless small talk. Guess I went to the wrong barbers! :p I've been using clippers, the same pair, actually, since them. They are still going strong, and I like my own conversation just fine. Plus, the clippers cost me $20.00 then, from Woolworth's, and if I think of the money I saved over 15 years, why heck, I can afford a few more guns per year! :D
