I often listen to Gun Talk on my XM radio early evening on Sundays. If the Fairness Doctrine were to pass would that mean I would have to listen to antis giving their view on why guns are bad?

I'm sure the leftists would try, but if you've noticed Tom is always quick to point out to callers that it isn't a left of right issue. There are plenty of libs that support RKBA. I am sure they would try though. This is a horrible price of legislation that must be stopped.

The 'un'fairness doctrine would not apply to satellite radio, only to public access airwaves. Quinn and Rose show mentioned that this morning stating this as one of the reasons they chose to be broadcast on XM.

No, what it means is that every episode of every Law & Order show will be three hours long, one hour of drama and two hours of me rebutting everything said about firearms and the 2nd Amendment in the first sixty minutes.

I'm thinking that'll get VERY old for the networks, VERY quickly.

If the power that be insists on clamping down on political speech I doubt the distinction of public airways v satellite would make any difference. TPTB could just as easily claim space based broadcasting as they to terrestrial basing. These people know no bounds.

I'm just surprised they haven't attempted to claim it already! The argument could be made just as easily that ALL "broadcast mediums" (including satellite services and the internet) are publicly-owned resources, and thus subject to "affirmative action".

(Technically, even the audio spectrum belongs to the public, thus raising the prospect of a "Fairness in Speech" doctrine...)

could anybody please inform me of what channel Gun talk is on? I have a xm radio but have never come across this show.

Hey if antis want equal time on our shows that means we get equal time on theirs and i don't think they will be all that happy when their blatant lies are actually rebutted with facts.

Actually ... I don't think it's on anymore. Someone called him last week and asked why it was gone off of either XM or Sirius, don't remember which. He had no idea it had been pulled. Apparently management at one of them, XM or Sirius, had decided to stop carrying it and just ... quit.

From the XM site:
Tom Gresham's Gun Talk
Sunday - 5:00 PM ET

Spotlights gun safety, sport and recreational shooting, gun collecting, issues that involve firearms, along with interviews with industry specialists and calls from devoted listeners.

No indication that it's off XM. I am in my car infrequently on Sunday afternoons that I can't confirm this.

Howdy.

"Tom Gresham's Gun Talk" is on channel 166 on XM. It begins at 5:06pm Eastern time on Sundays.

The show is broadcast live on radio stations and web streaming at 2:06pm Eastern on Sundays, and the podcasts are always available. For more info, cruise our web site -- www.guntalk.com.

I have tried to get the anti-gunners on the show through the years. They don't want to come on the show. Sarah Brady agreed to come on several years ago, but then was a no-show.

As someone pointed out, the gun issue has very little to do with left or right, conservative or liberal. Many people who consider themselves to be liberal have strong pro-gun views.

Of course, the mainstream media already is offering the other side on guns -- it is universally in favor of more repressive gun control laws.

That's one reason I have brought back the Truth Squad -- a team of volunteers who will send letters to the editor of papers around the country. The number one activity of the Truth Squad now is to call for the elimination of "Gun Free Killing Zones," as I have named them.

Just as it has taken many years to get right to carry in most states, it will take many years to eliminate the gun free killing zones, but that doesn't mean we should not start now.

More info on the Truth Squad on the web site. Oh, and we are giving away stuff there, too. <grin>

Yesterday I talked about my long conversation with Matt Westerhold, managing editor of the Sandusky Register, the paper which published the names of people who have gotten carry permits in that area. Then I had Pete Brownell from Brownells, and Bill Gravette, of Sinclair International, on the show. Brownells recently purchased Sinclair.
