I do not have a book of values but was wondering if someone who might have one could give me some values of 3 guns.

1. Beretta 950 BS .25acp w/gold external parts and lettering and glossy black excellent condition 98-99%

2. EAA Windicator EA/R in .357 mag/.38 special in 90-95%

3. COP .357 magnum 4 barrel with box in 98% condition

thanks

My blue book is not current so I will just advise patience - someone will pop in and give you the info soon. In the mean time you can also search the gun auction and sale sights for these models to get an idea of what they go for.
Auction Arms
Gunbroker
Gunsamerica

are a few examples of where to search.

I don't put much faith in "Book" value estimates. There are very considerable differences in what a particular item will actually sell for from region to region according to relative interest and demand.

I could give you a fairly accurate estimate of what a particular item might bring where I live, but I wouldn't count on it being even roughly similar to what it might bring where you are or anywhere else for that matter.

While you're checking the asking prices for similar items on Gun broker and similar sites it'd be wise to take note of whether there are any bids at all at the posted "starting" price, how close any bid might be to any listed "Buy Now" price, and (if possible) how many times an item has been viewed.

If there's a search option that will allow you to track what similar items have actually sold for on the site, by all means use it. IMO, these will give you a more accurate picture of what market demand "is" right now rather than relying on what one souce thinks that it "should" be.

Book values don't mean much IMHO as anything is only worth what someone will actually pay.

Yes, Gunbroker will let you look at actual closed autions in the advanced search. It's amazing how many auctions close without a single bid. I always use this to see what folks are actually getting for a gun...

Great suggestion.

Turns out I got a pretty good deal on my M&P 9c.

Went to local shop looking for XD 9 compact but they were out. They did have a M&P 9c military/leo package. They said it was "special" pricing for military and LEO and included an extra (3rd) mag. I figured the "special" price was like $20 off retail. I liked the size and fit so I took it for $399. With prices on gunbroker going for $500 (w/o 3rd mag) you just made my day. It's always fun to find out you got a sweet deal.

I was at an auction several weeks ago where a COP went for about $200.
I didn't bid because I wasn't familiar with the gun and actually thought it looked kind of cheap.
Went home and looked on GB. Boy, did I mess up.
IIRC, they were going for $400 - $1,000 depending on condition. Apparently there are some collectors out there.

Subscribe to the online version of the BBGV, it's updated regularly, searchable, same or less expensive than the paper version. Very convenient.

As another Indiana resident, I can tell you this is very true in our state. Gun prices are relatively high in the northern part of the state and Indianapolis. In the southern part of the state, retailers are competing with Kentucky prices, and the overall retail prices are correspondingly lower.

Indiana prices make no sense. Ithaca 37s and S&W Model 10s, 15s, and 64s are dirt cheap, while Colt revolver prices are just as crazy as anywhere else. Go figure...

Book values are a place to start. It helps to have some familiarity with the manufacturer and models you're considering. BBGV is sometimes spot on among the dozen or so different guns I've been tracking. A lot of times the values are sort of "wholesaleish," if I can be forgiven the term, or what a dealer might pay before marking up for a retail price.

Other times the BBGV prices have been hopelessly low. For several years the S&W 547 9 mm revolver was listed at $295 for 100% at a time when they were bringing $450 to $600 depending on whether it was the 3-inch round but or 4-inch square butt version.

The BBGV now has them at $775 for 100%which is in the right neighborhood.
