It seems that my house has become a refuge for unwanted firearms. I posted recently about a Marlin .22 rifle that showed up on my doorstep with that 'feed me, love me" look. How could I turn it away? Yesterday I sold a Yugo Mauser that I was having troubles with (broken extractor, I think) and bought a Ruger .22 MkII from an acquaintance who needed a quick $150.00 and didn't like the pistol.

Any advice on the best ammo to shoot in these two .22's? They both shoot Long Rifle. Is there a hi-power version of this round? Does this round come in hollow point? As always, thanks.

.22s are individuals -- you'll need to try a few different types in each gun to see which load they prefer.

One round I've had good results with in a few different .22s is the Winchester PowerPoint. Very accurate in my 10/22.

REFUGE:D ,Your Mark -2 is a good 22 pistol to have .I have one it it will shoot most 22LR without a hiccup.Highpower 22LR -Stingers,Yellow Jackets also both hollowpoint.:)

My vote would go with the Winchester Power Point. They have given me good to excellent accuracy in several guns, and also perform well down range on reactionary targets, if you know what I mean.

WW Power points

I too have had fantastic results with the Win Power Points--
:D

Niether of my Rugers will feed Winchester Xpert so you might want to steer clear of them. Other than that most ammo works and is accurate in them. I just shoot whatever is on sale and I have been happy.

The hottest .22lr is the CCI Stinger I think. They feed fine but are not as accurate as most the guns I shoot.

Dang. I thought that you were referring to government-subsidized guns for the Financially Less Fortunate. You got my hopes up and everything. Since my Social Security will be worth
(insert witty quip about worthlessness) by the time I'm 65, I would like to use some of it to buy a gun now.

Instead of giving as much money in the form of welfare/food stamps, etc., what if they tried this: Give FS applicants marksmanship lessons, a single shot .22 rifle, a draconian warning about screwing up with or blackmarketing it, and a brick of ammo, and then told them to bag some squirrels or rabbits? How many farmers and ranchers would transport and feed some people like this in exchange for pest control?

I usually pick up whatever .22 is on sale, my Mk II eats everything. I did once have a problem with some really cheap lead that didn't seem crimped in the cases well enough (leading the the bullet 'cocking' in the case).
