I have tried many, and am a fan of the Filson 1-1/2" double belt.

I usually wear suspenders that hook on to the belt. Guess it's just the way I'm built, but it works fine. Walmart sells them.

That Filson looks nice, but I'm of the opinion that if you can coil it that tightly, it's not stiff enough.
 
I think they forced it into that position to get a good marketing photo. Mine won't get anywhere near that without boiling it first...it's quite stiff.

Bruce , I have spoken with a number of people that have purchased your belts . Every person that I have spoken with has said that your belts are one of the best purchases that they have made in a long time and all said that they would readily purchase again .

I've tried a bunch and the best of the lot so far has been Milt Sparks.
They cut the belt with a contour. By far the most stable and comfortable platform I have tried to date.
 
Just started w/ my first "real" belt.....a 1-1/2" trouser belt by Don Hume.

What a difference! I obviously haven't compared dozens of them....but I'm very pleased with the quaulity of both my Don Hume belt and Holster.

As for "animal skin" being obsolete.....Pashaw!

Your "people skin" makes a pretty good covering. Don't you think? What better "suppliment" than a well prepared "animal skin".

VERY nice quality leather, and very reasonably priced. I bought one of their kydex lined gun belts, and it's extremely high quality. Double thickness black leather belt with a strip of kydex inside going the full length of the belt. Only paid $30. Very good deal. They make a good deal of the custom leather gear that police officers use around Oklahoma City. Great holsters, mag pouches, belts, ect.

Sure the buckle is titanium but the rest of it is just nylon and resin. What in the world makes this thing worth $90? Even though titanium is much more expensive than steel, I don't think that price can be justified. A steel buckle is only 2 ounces heavier and with a steel buckle that should be a $10 belt or maybe $20 at the most. Yikes!
 
I have 4 Galco belts--2 1.25in and 2 1.5in----various colors----and they are very nice---Midway has started carrying them and you can get most sizes in 2 or 3 days for $70 shipped.

They are sized differently than most others---most all the other belts I own are 34" in Galco's I need a 36"----I have a 32" waist.

I also have a Desantis belt which is quite nice for $38---I don't wear it much mainly because its 1.75in across and the buckle gouges my belly when I'm sitting down----I mostly wear the 1.25in belts for everday use.

Ya --I need to lose a few belly pounds.

I also have a Bianchi leather "dress" belt---while OK as a dress belt---don't waste your money on one as a gun belt---too thin and flimsy.

And even the nicest leather belts are made out of dead cow skin. Raw materials alone do not a belt describe.

Master Yoda - Quality leather is much more expensive than nylon for obvious reasons. But if you don't even factor in cost of materials, a well made handcrafted leather belt takes more labor, time, and skill to make than a synthetic belt. Sure the nylon one might be nice for a nylon one and it might work PERFECTLY, but that doesn't justify the cost...even for the nicest nylon belt money can buy. Nylon can only get so nice. Should they charge $100,000 for a Toyota Camry just because it's been proven to be a reliable car?

I'll admit it appears to be a good belt. It might even work better than any leather belt on the planet. The price is still absolutely ridiculous though..and the titanium seems sort of gimmicky to me also. All that said, I'd still wear it if the price was right.
 
My black Rafter S sharkskin belt is awesome. You can really notice how much thicker and better it is compared to store bought belts. The 1.5 inch belt goes through just about all belt loops. I use it all the time. I'm thinking of a 1.25 black cowhide belt for my suits.

I've found a good gun belt makes all the difference in the world. There are a lot of good ones out there. It's hard to go wrong with a good gun belt from a reputable maker.
 
I not too awful long ago bought a 'tooled leather gunbelt' from Cabela's for about $43.00 I think. It's got the 'hang low' slit in the side so that you can unsnap the back flap of the holster and run it through and re-snap it in place. I don't like it. You can't shift or slide the holster around on the belt because it's held firmly in position. There's certainly nothing wrong with the quality or the price, and it's a fine gun belt. (blackpowder belt. No shell loops) I'll tell ya'll a belt that I like a lot. It is also from Cabela's. I don't remember the price, but I remember it's a lot less than the tooled $43.00 belt. It's a wide leather belt that come's with a solid brass buckle. You can order it in black, (which has US on the buckle) or you can order it in brown which has CS on the buckle...Hold on a minute...I just stopped and looked it up in one of my Cabela's catalogs...The unit number is 212560, price $24.99..I have found it to be an excellent belt for carrying around my holster, my scabbard, and what have you. One big plus for me is that if I'm doing something like running a trotline from the boat, or doing anything that requires a lot of shifting and twisting around, I can shift and slide the knife scabbard or holster into a comfortable position. The belt is very tough and will stand up under a lot of abuse if need be. It's quality hand crafted leather made by Triple K Manufacturing Co. in San Diego, Ca.....

Those are mighty fine-looking belts. The black one is right up my alley. The proof is in the wear, of course.

One thing I especially liked was the use of metal belt-loop in lieu of a leather strip. I have had the leather ones give way under hard use. They are not supposed to, but sometimes equipment is stressed in ways not foreseen by the maker or user.

I am in need of a rig for my new (to me) S&W 629. I'll give you a call when I am ready to pull the trigger on some leather.
 
I'm a fan of nylon, just because I get my stuff wet all the time. And it's more Tacticool!

I have a Wilderness 1.5 inch 5-stitch Frequent Flyer that is great, and very light with the plastic buckles. I use this daily carrying or not. I also have a 1.75 inch 5-stitch Instructor that comes in handy for big guns, but I kind of wish I had either gone with a Frequent Flyer, or sprung for the Ti buckle, because that Instructor buckle is quite a chunk.

Definately recommend the Wilderness belts for the budget-limited.
