Went by local Walmart to pick up an order over lunch. They had 22 value packs pretty reliably so I thought I would pick one up to plink over the weekend.

The sporting good section was empty. All shotguns, rifles and ammo was gone. Asked the kid nearby, he said he didn't have any 22s right now and that they made the call to lock up all guns and ammo ahead of the election to avoid any issues.

It's prudent, but I'm curious if anyone else has noticed this in their area. This is a medium sized city. It did suffering looting and rioting in June. Windows were smashed out.

walmarts here in at least my state and nearby MA, no longer even sell rifles and handgun ammo. just rifle ammo, and that has been mostly shotgun.

so nothing new here.

Video from riots in Philly last night at a Walmart.....showed live rifle ammo scattered all over the floor. Gotta wonder if looters also took guns.

Considering that Mob Rule appears to be have been tacitly approved in some locales, that might not be such a bad idea.

Yup--all the cases were bare when I went in last night-------there were 100ct packs of Federal target 12ga shells on the display stand on the main aisle ----probably an oversight.

Normally I'd think that this was over-reaction but not anymore.

If there is civil unrest there is 3 distinct groups; diehard tactical Antifa/BLM, protesters, and looters.

With politicians, celebrities, and others vocally supporting the riots and looting the looters do whatever they want just like they are doing in Philly right now.

Realistically I'd think any place that sells firearms and ammunition would lock them all up safely off the shelves.

Sounds like a smart move by Wally. We are dealing with people who have no moral compass so looting, theft and arson are the minor infractions they will be committing for weeks after the election. There are many public calls to not accept the results and to overthrow the government if orange man wins. I think large (and small) retailers should hide there most valuable inventory in low risk warehouses or in trucks away from the cities.

I saw that here today in Central Texas.
I don't mind them doing whatever they want with their guns and ammo, I however doubt Walmart feels the same about my guns and ammo.
They don't call it China Mart for nothing.

Locked up but still available though? For the devout customer, this could be fun er, a challenge.

Customer : Do you have any 12 gauge 2 3/4'' Federal 1 oz trap loads?
Associate: Dunno, I'll go check.

8 minutes pass...

As: Here!
Cus: Um, I wanted xyz load in the Federal could U check again please? And if not just bring me Win WB
As: Win whaaat?

And so forth and on & on.

Or...be nice, best to develop a shopping list with specifics, shotgun shell X in Y gauge ; shotgun shell Z in RR gauge; 22LR in X manufacturer. Send the As: back ONLY once...

MEANWHILE... go shopping for peaceful, non-violent object that looters/rioters NEVER need; long screwdrivers, bleach, slingshot ammo er, excuse me, river rocks 40# bag, kitchen knives, hammers, various other etc (looter er, excuse me, peaceful customer MAY have to make two trips, there are SO MANY other just as dangerous items).

P.S. DON'T FORGET THE BEER and PACKAGE LIQUOR

When walmart quit carrying handgun calibers, I quit buying any ammo there.
I'll not support their virtue signaling buying whatever leftover calibers they consider worthy of selling.
Support gun businesses that support gun owners. <--- Main Idea.
Most will continue to buy ammo at wmart because its cheaper, or convenient, heck with principle. <--- Reality.

Be a lot more effective if they gave the guns and ammo to the greeters and stockers and had them stand in front of the store. But I guess that makes too much sense.

I’m sure the folks that make minimum wage and took hours cuts this year would happily defend all the imported junk in walmart.

Stop buying everything there. They make a lot more from products other than ammo.

When I first read this I thought it might be political but after thinking about it this might be a good idea. Its not the way I would do it. I'm thinking more like a roof top Korean in LA! This stuff needs to be stopped!

The most valuable items, that criminals really want, are in the back!

That was my first thought too.

Like the people where I live who don't own a sump pump and a backup before flood season. Then cry when there are no pumps to be had.

Yeah when my sister lived at the coast. (NC.... hurricane pretty regularly) i was baffled by how every time one came there was a run on generators and plywood. One would think they would just keep the ones from the hurricane they had a month before.... but nope
