Guns colt should start making again.

Forget the Python and Anaconda. I want to see a new New Service. A sixgun of that size, made of modern heat treated materials would easily be strong enough for the .44Mag. Let's also make it in .38-40, .41Mag, .44Spl, .45ACP and .45Colt. Fixed and adjustable sights, blued and stainless, in all barrel lengths.

Colt single action shooters should already be happy. The current SAA is vastly improved over previous 3rd generation iterations and they've brought back the New Frontier. Make mine a 4¾" .44Spl!

stock

All I want is for them to stock some up. I tried to purchase a new frontier 357 and was told one year wait. Im glad Ruger is here. 357 Blackhawk, Im a Ruger man now thanks to Colt. Now I have learned the Blackhawk is maybe a stronger gun, made in USA and less money, WOW way to go Bill

Many of those Colt can't afford to build & few people would actually buy.
They're dead for a reason.

They're slightly insane for not making more Colt Pocket Nines. It was the best pocket gun I've ever owned, well ahead of its time--kind of like a PM9 with class.

So much like the Kahrs (PM9s?) that Kahr sued Colt and won for patent infringment. That is why you won't see them making any Pocket 9s anytime soon. So much for being ahead of its time.

A Python goes for what it goes for today because they're not making any more.

I understand and sympathize with the longing for Colt revolvers, but the cold hard fact is that the revolver market has shrunk considerably from what it once was. Out of S&W, Ruger and Colt, there was more capacity than the market could bear and something had to give. Colt was by far the weakest of the three.
I don't know smith and wesson and ruger seem to be making quite a profit off of them.

Smith and Ruger build revolvers using modern manufacturing methods that the old hand-fitted Python V-Spring-type actions can't keep up with.

M1903 Pocket in .32 ACP
(psssst---the M1908 is the same basic weapon in .380 ACP-----and they should make those, too!).

Sadly they won't, and if they *did* and did so using the same production methods that made the fantastic Browning design such a wonderful weapon for discreet carry now as then---they'd likely have to charge 2k for a brand new one when a well-respected vintage example can still be had for under one thousand even today.

But still, it would be awful nice to have such a chance at a new one.

And of course, they should be making ALL of their wonderful wheel guns in every flavor as well...

Yes, now that there are only two major revolver manufacturers in the US, they can split the smaller pie two ways instead of three and make a profit. But it's not going to be like the 50s-80s ever again, now that the police market for revolvers has dried up.

they need to fix their triggers on their 1911's first. they should be ashamed. my delta elite ran a grand and i've spent another 200 on internal parts to make the trigger how it should be.

dont get me started on the plastic arched mainspring housing

So true. For what Colt what have to charge for their older-style, hand-fitted revolvers, they would stand to sell . . . literally. . .dozens of them.

Only when/if the economy rebounds, would Colt be able to sell enough revolvers to turn a profit. Even with the current economy there is a market for a Colt 2" 38spl/357 mag. I know I would pay the premium for a new Colt 2".

As long as the quailty is on par with the classics I would be willing to spend the money. It would be hard to purchase very many with the economy as it is.

I agree with the woodsman.

I own a 1st series Match Target 1940. It is my all time favorite handgun. The fit and finish cannot be beat. The price on these handguns has also skyrocketed. I have seen just the elephant ear grips alone go for $700 and a like new in box with test target go for $1500 and up.

COlt has dropped the ball over the last few years. Bringing back the mustang is hopefully a step in right direction. Hopefully they keep up with the consumer demand.

I'd like to see Colt make a GOOD firearm again. Their QC has deteriorated over the years... government contracts have a tendency to do that.

What vintage is your 1911? I'm wondering if they've made the same strides in quality they have with the 1911's as they have with the SAA's.

Far as I can tell, the guns they're producing now ARE good guns. Their quality has seen vast improvements over the last couple years.
