On 5 Jun 2008 Big Boomer posted a screed titled "OMG! Guns Galore in Killeen, TX". His claim was that in the space of ten minutes he heard a litany of lies told to customers that made his blood boil. He goes on to list a series of lies told and other complaints which I would like to address, as I have worked at Guns Galore over a year now. Big Boomer is talking about me and my friends. He has twisted things we say into lies, or exaggerated truths into lies. Let's cover them as he numbered them.
1. All employees at Guns Galore have Texas CHL's and are familiar with the law. We have never told anyone such nonsense as what Big Boomer claims ("You cannot carry in your car unless you have a CHL..."). Several local police hang out at the store during off-duty time and would have immediately set it right, had we said anything so patently wrong. Big Boomer lied.
2. An exaggeration. We have a section of wall made of two-by-fours showing what Glasers do.
3. Let me get this one straight...we told Big Boomer we used to have the Saiga 12 ga., what they had cost, we've been waiting to get some, and what we think they'll cost next time. Oh no! How DARE we! Was this the source of his anger at us? He couldn't get his toy?
4. Dragunovs priced at $900-1000. Still the same. What was his point?
5. "Most stuff at MSRP or higher". Out of thousands of items in stock a few are at MSRP. All others are below, nothing above. I know. I checked with the manager. Big Boomer obviously pulled this one out of his...hat.
Another number 4. Buying anything semi-auto with a mag because it'll likely be on a ban list. Been reading the news?
Another number 5. Ah-hhhh! Here we go. He asked about a new gun and we didn't have it. As of this posting I still haven't seen the one he asked for. We all know manufacturers sometimes advertise new products well in advance of actual availability. It seems every time someone sees a new gun on a website or in a magazine they run to the local gun store to check it out. Big Boomer got told 'No!' and now he's banging his spoon on his high chair.
6. We get a lot of soldiers deploying overseas for 15 month tours of duty, leaving a wife to fend for herself. Many have no experience with guns, but want to protect themselves while hubby is away. Automatics must be held properly to avoid 'stovepiping' due to 'limp-wristing'. Many women have trouble working the slide on autos. All kinds of problems go away with a revolver so we tend to recommend them in these cases. I carry one in the store. Big Boomer exaggerated.
7. Ammo went up about 40% last year, and continues to rise. Big Boomer exaggerated.
8. "You can get your Texas Concealed Weapons permit by just paying some money...." Read number 1 above. Big Boomer lied BIG TIME on this one.
9. He lost me here.
10. By taking a snippet of conversation he takes things out of context.
11. Sounds like another fragment that got exaggerated.
I'm not going to discuss pricing since the employees (4 of us) do not set them, the owner does. We are not allowed to do freebies or make deals on prices, because the owner says so. Did Big Boomer not get "a deal"? Did he not find his toy? I don't know. All I know is he lied. A lot. To slander a business over it is the act of a weasel. To do so over the net anonymously is the act of a coward.
Don't take my word for it. Don't take the word of Big Boomer (liar, weasel, coward) for it. Stop by Guns Galore and look at the prices. Listen to people on both sides of the counter and see whats said for yourself. You won't find the same store that Big Boomer(l,w,c) says he found.
