Now that McB has competition from Sportsman's Warehouse and Cabella's their prices have gotten much better.

wow

i went to guns galore in killeen today and asked about some accessories they had, when i told him what kind of gun i had he immediately started talking bad about it. well i enjoy the gun and have shot over a 1000 rounds through it. they are not nice people over there and i would never!!!!!!!!!! buy a gun from them at those ridiculous price. They are just rude people!!!!!

I know this is a revived thread from last year (seriously, why is everyone dragging up old threads all of a sudden?), but I just visited Guns Galore today, so thought I'd weigh in.

It's a small store, but literally jammed to the rafters with guns. They actually have those library-style sliding ladders to reach the high stuff.

They had some okayish prices on some used stuff, but not amazing. And plenty of higher prices, like $375 for a Yugo SKS. I know prices are up, but still...

Even though every gunshop I've been to in 3 months has been full of Obama talk, it was more vitriolic than I'd heard yet. Plus a clerk was telling a Ft Hood soldier the old racist chestnut "Yeah, Obama complained to Fox News that they needed to double the number of minorities they show on their programming... so now they're showing Americas Most Wanted twice a day!"

They weren't necessarily unfriendly, but not horribly helpful either.

If you're in Killeen, the two pawnshops immediately south of 190 (Action Pawn and the one just a block south of it) have a buch of guns, and a few deals mixed in. I also got a somewhat rough Benchmade 9100 auto (labeled "MILITARY AND POLICE ONLY) for $35 from one pawnshop, so I'm happy.

Action Pawn on the corner of Hwy 190 and Hwy 195 (S. Ft. Hood St.) burned down back around Christmas and they are operating out of a temporary facility while a new store is built. I've bought a few guns there and a salesman named Dan (a muscle man) was always easy to negotiate with.
When Guns Galore opened up several years ago they had good prices and knowledgable salesmen. I think they may have changed ownership.
Ray Brock was good to deal with until he lost his FFL due to poor recordkeeping. He had 10 times as many guns in the back room as he had on display. I haven't been in the store since Ray sold it.

Carters Country here in houston lost my buisness.. high prices, bad customer service.. telling customers lies..

Brock was a good guy to deal with. When I got out I was a little low on cash and was forced to sell my 1911. He gave me more than a fair price on it, and even commented on how well I'd maintained it. I probably could have got a little more from a private sale, but I was more than happy with his offer.

Sorry to hear he got into trouble. He struck as a good man in a business with more than it's share of bull**** artists.

One experience like that will have you believing we are our own worst enemy.

There is a fallacy in your thinking; there is no we, us, or our. The spectrum is vast.

Consider the city-raised average adult who decides to become a first-time gun owner. First, imagine the misinformation you must believe, and the lies you need to tell yourself, to be an anti-gun anti-America type. Guns are magic, cops have magic, the government is magical, my enemies are brilliant idiots who run a giant conspiracy to keep me down and they must be using magic. Reinforced by magic guns on TV, newspapers, etc.

Then imagine the wall is breached by reality, and so you go online a little and go to a gun shop and maybe even take a course. 'A little knowledge is a dangerous think, drink deeply from the font of wisdom or not at all.'

No offense to McBride's in general - it's a fun place to visit but there is one clerk there who is definitely into commando mode.

"If you need to fire more than one shot - then you ain't doing your job". That while selling a Taurus 38. Same guy started screaming at a kid asking a decent question about an SKS. So the kid called him an butt orifice and left. Commando was left screaming in the store that he was called a B.O. Oh, well.

Such is life. Some guys like to go to gun store and engage in posturing about who's a commando.

I think every good sized town has one of these kinda stores.

Ive been in one in Fort Smith Arkansas. Ammo prices are $3-4 a box more and they think they know everything. And the last time i went in there I told him I had about $500 i wanted to spend on a new 7mm mag rifle and he told me they dont make any that price and handed me some used ones for 600 +. Needless to say I went to wal mart and bought one for 450.
