Guns you have bought and never fired?

My second IMI .357 Timber Wolf. Some day I'll drag it out back to the range in the trees and give it a go.

I bought a new Springfield M1A Scout Squad about four years ago. I never shot it and sold it last week on GunBroker along with eight magazines and a scope mount. I really liked the balance and look of the rifle and the trigger was outstanding but it was never designed to work with a scope. .308 Win is by far my favorite cartridge but I have an AR308 and an FAL so decided that I'd rather roll the money into something I'll use. Maybe I'll buy another Lee-Enfield No4 Mk2.

MJ what kind of rifle is that, it looks like the bastard child of a Mosin and a K98 with K31 sights...

This one, I am not a shotgun fan, bought it for HD, disaster recovery work. No I am not a prep-per it's just not a bad idea for crowd control.

This is one of the saddest threads I have seen in rifle country in a long time.

I have a buddy who has bought and then traded several guns he never shot. Not collectors guns but things like Smith M&P's. He has probably done it about 6 times in the last couple of years.

I got a French MAS36 rifle, WWII surplus in unfired condition. I do not shoot it, so it will stay historically accurate.

Then another old EE, besides myself, Roger, painted his MAS36 so it will look more French.

Guns are meant to be fired.

I have bought 2 unfired rifles. A Belgian Browning SA22 which I fired 50 rounds through on the way home from the gun show at which I bought it.

The other is a Sako L579 Forester heavy barrel .243 (from the 1970s), which I fired within a week of buying... as soon as I could work up some .243 hand loads. It has been a great shooting rifle for the last 15 years now.

I don't care about "historically accurate"... how much fun is it to own something you can only fondle? (we're only talking about guns here :) ) What I care about is shooting guns, not touching them or looking at them.

:)

I do not own any guns I haven't fired. I think the longest period of time that I have had pass between acquiring a gun and firing that gun is about a month.

It's a Madsen Lightweight Military Rifle. They made them after WW2 hoping to get bids from the third world. I think only Columbia ever bought any and not many at that. They're well made rifles, but pretty obsolete at the time of manufacture, not too mention the market was flooded with surplus at the time.

I'm not sure about the market on an unfired Madsen with an unissued bayonet but we will find out real quick..LOL

Another I never got around to try but some day I will.

I had some cheap Romanian WASRs I bought on a whim bout year and a half ago for about $350 apiece, after the gun scare resulting from the school shooting I made over 5 times what I paid for those crappy AKs.

I too have sinned... from early 1990's I have not one but TWO Shiloh Sharps #1 business rifles with the HB and pewter forend caps in 45/70... beautiful guns!

Sadly they have never been fired

My only portable easy to hide defensive weapon which is 9mm S&W revolver was never fired by me or previous owner. I have checked the timing and have faith in Smith & Wesson name.

Had a little late model Winchester 1892 that I owned for 12yrs and only shot twice before I sold it two months ago.

VZ 58. It is the VZ2000 by Ohio Ordnance. I bought it new and unfired from an estate back in the winter and have never gotten around to shooting it. I plan on shooting it before too long though.

I've known people who have bought and sold (non-collector) guns and never fired them. That's like marrying a woman and divorcing her without making love at least once.

I'm having a tough day at work, and I pulled THR up on the web and your comment made my whole day better.

I have just one, a Colt Python, bought it from a little old lady who said it never left her husbands sock drawer. There is only the faintest hint of a line on the cylinder, I am guessing he cocked it a few times, maybe even dry fired it. But it just seemed wrong to throw lead out of an unfired Python. I have used diamondbacks for shooting.

I accidentally won a Gunbroker bid (at a great price) for a Mauser M-96 straight pull in 7mm Rem Mag. It was a nice rifle, but I was in grad school at the time and didn't have the time or inclination to start reloading for another caliber. I wound up selling it to someone who wanted it for elk hunting before I put any rounds down the tube.

Recently I saw a Mauser 98 at a local gun store for a price that I couldn't pass up. After a couple weeks I decided I didn't really have a use for it, and again, didn't want to start reloading for another caliber I didn't have a need for, so I sold it off.

I think those are the only two out of the few dozen that I have owned, that I haven't shot though, the vast majority make it to the range.

I have a 91/30 that I bought three or four years ago that I have never fired. I bought it on impulse and did not check to see if the store had any ammo, which of course they did not. I also don't have a rifle range anywhere near me anymore. I guess I need to order a case or two of ammo and take the two to three hour drive to get to the range. I want to see what that old war horse can do. I don't have a picture of it at the moment, stupid camera is acting up.
