The Colt Official Police I bought when I was stationed at Ft. Knox in the '80s, during a [very] brief period when I was considering becoming a cop.
Hey, it's not like Colt's ever going to stop making revolvers, right...?
About eight years later, while living in Ohio, I got a letter from the gunshop in Elizabethtown, Kentucky to whom I traded it, via the Army Locator Service. Turns out that it had been stolen in California about ten years before I bought it and the BATF wanted to know where I'd gotten it. Fortunately, I'd bought it on a 4473 from a gunstore in Cosmosdale, Kentucky. I called the guys who sent the letter and told them where I'd gotten it and that was the last I've ever heard about it.
A few years ago, R.M. Vivas and Son in New York had a bunch of Official Polices for sale. But they got out of the business before I had a chance to get one.
Maybe I'll get another one some day... if this economy doesn't have me homeless first...
