As I've mentioned in this thread, we're having a fund-raising banquet.

I've worked out an arrangement with the owners of the two major gun stores in the area to get the guns for our auction at cost, plus $10 for paper-shuffling, plus sales tax. Any guns that don't meet the minimum bid can be returned to the stores, and the WCCM doesn't pay anything.

So, I'm looking for ideas on what guns you think people would bid up. The shops may be able to get some guns that are hard to get (FN 5.7's), Benelli door-busters, or guns that you just can't find at Gander Mountain or Sportsmans Warehouse.

Keep in mind the type of gun owners this banquet will be drawing. It will be people interested in CCW. There may be some overlap with the DU crowd, the trapshooters or other subsets, but only coincidentally.

Suggestions?

OK, here's another idea. Feel free to offer comments.

I keep getting emails from people around the state asking what they can do to help.

When I suggest that they come up with a fund-raising shoot or other idea on their own, it just seems like I don't hear from them again.

So, here's my idea. A volunteer--Joe Gunowner--buys a gun at cost plus tax from his local gunshop. If necessary, I can pretty much make sure that he gets the gun at cost. And Joe will be reimbursed for what he paid for the gun by the WCCM.

Joe Gunowner then has the gun out on display, and the local shop has a drawing for the gun. No purchase or contribution necessary, although the owners and shop personnel would strongly encourage anyone entering the drawing to kick in $10 to the WCCM donation jar.

Will there be people who will just fill out the form for the drawing, and not kick in their $10? Sure.

Will there be people who will gladly kick in $10 for a chance to win a nice pistol, shotgun or rifle, and help the cause at the same time?

That's the question.
