Fellow shooters,

The Tallahassee,FL gunshow started Saturday 9/10 and is scheduled to go on today 9/11. After a bit of looking I decided to buy a Desert Eagle .50 AE,something that reminded me of America-big, strong, and with close ties to Isreal. Like the commercial "I'm crazy big"'

Some observations during the show....

Huge crowd turnout.
Lots of handgun purchases-sub $600 purchases.
Not many big ticket purchases. There were several folks selling 1k plus weapons seriously discounted with no success. Most likely an indicator of our depressed economy.
lots of ammo purchases. prices were good, with the exception of 50 AE which I purchased for $80 a box of 50.
Definitely no one wearing a Kufi. I would interested if anyone would be denied entrance if dressed in that garb.

I had one nervous moment during the entire show, that being the moment my background check was called in. I had suspected that there would perhaps be a "do not proceed" message due to my birthplace being Thailand and me being a naturalized citizen. I also served in the US Army and recieved an Honorable discharge.

I was pleased to find out that the ATF did not suspend my constitutional rights this weekend, which got me to thinking, given the significance of this weekend, did the ATF deny approvals for "green card" , resident alien purchases. Or should they?

When answering, remember that a large number of our soldiers are not citizens and even serve in areas of conflict at this time. I was also there in their shoes, a non us citizen zerving in desert storm with the 24th ID.

My observation of the Tallahassee gun show after 9 years of seeing it: Mostly common guns and accessories that I could find anywhere also at high prices. The only exception to this is Arias Artifacts and The Outpost. If it wasn't for those two vendors I would miss this show a lot more often.
