I went to the local GS today and handled a S&W 637 Gunsmoke edition snubby. I must confess, I LIKED IT!! However, I did not buy it because it was $599. I need to do some more research at other gun shops in the area to see if that is a good price.

What say you guys? Are they available cheaper elsewhere? I kinda wanted the Gunsmoke version since it comes with a better trigger.

Were you aware that you were looking at a Performance Center grade gun? I like mine and enjoy having something really nice. It's almost like jewelry with the highly polished flutes, bobbed hammer, and nice looking trigger. I paid $700-900 for my bigger revolvers, so the price of the fancy little .38 seems about right to me.

I guess I was having my problem with the price since S&W MSRP is $549. I may have to go back and look at it again. Thanks guys!

Buds has had them in stock off on for about $480 shipped. I looked at it and thought hard about it and have been keeping my eye on it. They are out of stock now. It has been probably 2 months since I have seen them in stock there, but before then it was fairly regular

Here is a new one available now on gunbroker for $474

You can get one for under $500 before transfer fees. With me that would be no tax and $15 transfer fee. I would personally pass on the $599one

Seems a little overpriced for what you're getting but if it's something that interests you then I would say the one for $474 on Gunbroker is a fairly decent deal.

Who did the work? S&W or the intelligence challenged, ham-fisted "gunsmiths" at Gunsmoke?

If you took your old Model 637 to them for an action job, they'd try to convince you to have them instead make you a new gun for $10,000..... 1/2 way thru the project, Rich would check on the progress and find something's wrong, like they forgot to include the cylinder......
