I’ve only seen does and I’m in a buck only county.

Nice video. Thanks for posting. I use a 30-30 in some rifle zones but I've always wanted to pick up something in 32 Special just for that nostalgic, old school, coolness factor. All I'd need would be dies and bullets. Got lots of 30-30 brass that can be necked up.

I think it is one of the coolest guns every made. I remember when I was a young lad, too young too hunt but would accompany my Dad on deer hunts in Arizona. Came across another guy a few years older than me and was toting one. Man I wanted one too. Unfortunately we do not use rifles in the South were I live, so the Henry 22. will have to do for the fun aspect. Most range days for me, are with my old Winchester Mdl 70.

If I set all of the pseudo-science, false stats, whimsical wives tails, and misrepresented subjective biases aside, that remained to be a painful 30+ minutes of rambling by an old man.

Good for him, I suppose, for seeking a means to create controversy to drive followership for his YouTube channel, even if more and more of our content is being demonetized (ironic how closely that resembles the word “demonized,” no?).

I love a good levergun, and often use the .30-30, but that was rough to get through.

All his videos are tough to get through...

I used 30/30 for piggies for the last two years. I ended up getting rid of it for something much more modern.....

444 Marlin. Haha. More modern but still the same old tech.

If it were legal, which to use:. 336, 94, Contender 10", Contender carbine? I really don't like Illinois game laws, taxes, government, or politics. My family, kids, church, gun club and farm are here so I stay. I could probably use one of the trientas on the farm.

If you need more than a 30-30 for deer you may as well quit hunting. Also get rid of the scope. This does not apply to meat hunters.
I have 6 days to fill my tags. Half my kills were inside handgun range. There other half were well out of ethical 30-30 range.
Having hunted tag alder swamps and now hunting open country and power line right of ways. I'll say your weapon must evolve with your surroundings.
I like the 30-30, but prefer the 30-40 krag. It's in a much smoother platform.

Watched the video...Ugh! The guy is justifying his choice in his favorite deer rifle. I really get turned off by people that pee all over someone else’s choice in firearms just to build up their own.
The way he was handling and prattling on about the AR-15 and the scoped bolt gun just irked me. Also, I didn’t know that 1960’s ARs had clamp on carry handles. I believe the Picatinny rail came about in the 90’s.
And that silliness over the scope catching everything and twigs and leaves getting jammed up in it. I didn’t realize hunters crashed and mashed their way through bushes and trees as they quietly seek their prey...

He did have some good points but I sure wouldn’t use his video as a teaching tool for young hunters.
What is that stupidity when he was talking about the scoped guns of using the scope to seek out deer in the woods. Moron move! He said “this scope only gives you about 8 yards of view when looking through the scope. Not much good in finding deer”. If I catch people doing this they get a piece of my mind, and fast. I don’t care if they are “on a hunt” or not. That is a moron move that can get people hurt or killed in the deer woods. Especially by Nimrods with their heads up their butts. Buy and use binoculars!

I love the 30-30 cartridge and the guns chambered for it. I know it’s limitations and I know mine. That is key for any gun or cartridge.

Grrr...I will never get those minutes back....

I’m exceptionally grateful that so many of the idiotic notions espoused by Grandpa Dribblechin in the video just aren’t true. Whitetails “on average” only shot at 30yrds, bolt guns bad for woodland use, AR’s ungainly to carry, scopes impossible to use, leverguns only capable of 2-3moa, and only capable of 200 yards - better still, the 44mag only good for 50-75 yards in the 1894 (which he incorrectly cited as the 1895)...

I believe he’s lead a very sheltered, very limited hunting and shooting life. I’ve met several Eastern hunters which share the same delusion - that whitetails are never taken more than a couple dozen yards away, westerners never seem to be so closed minded - or maybe we just have more varied conditions so we realize deer don’t just live in the woods.

I’ve never shot anything over 120 yds.

But I have watched quite a few hunting videos and even read a few books and understand not everyone hunts like me or has the same terrain.
