Hey, guys. I was wondering about using an H-Buffer in my 11.5" AR15. It recoils pretty rough for 5.56, and I think it may be over-gassed. I have no shame when it comes to ammo, and I believe in a lot of practice, so I run a ton of Wolf- the issue being: will my 11.5" upper run cheap Wolf loads reliably with an H-Buffer, and is it even worth upgrading? (note: it runs 99% reliably now)

i'd definitely try it. would probably start with an h2 actually.

Never used an H-buffer with it, but my personal experience is with a 11.5" Colt barrel with 5" FH. I put about 3000 rounds of Wolf downrange without any failures after installing an MGI recoil reducing buffer. Before adding the heavy buffer I was getting occasional failures to extract and feed with with brass cased M855, but it runs flawlessly now with the buffer so I'd have to say the extra weight is a good thing. The funny thing is the Wolf ran better than the M855 before adding the buffer, however the extraction and feed failures are more of an issue with hot ammo and Wolf is not a hot load.

Adding more weight to the buffer to slow down the cyclic rate is nearly always a good thing with carbine length gas systems. The recoil will soften as well even if you notice no difference in reliability. I'm sure you'll be happy with the results if you add the H-buffer.

Cool, thanks gentlemen. I'll try that H2 buffer and see how it goes. I'll also check out that MGI buffer. Those are good points for beginning some further research.
