I am looking into adding one of the two to my collection but I am not sure which. I would actually prefier to get a short barrel 44mag or a 45acp revolver but they are hard to come by in my area. So I am looking into getting a H&K Compact 45acp or a Glock 21. At some point I will want to get them both I just need to decide which to get first.

Can you get hi-cap magazines for H&K's?

No hicap mags are available for thew HK...maybe in October:D

The HK is compact in name only...but smaller than the Glock

The HK probably has a longer service life than the Glock

It really comes down to which action type you want

As of right now I already have a Glock 30 and a H&K Compact 9mm. At some point I will want to get the Glock 21, Glock 17, Glock 26, H&K Compact 45acp, and H&K Tactical. It all just depends on where I start. My gun list is ever growing and that is just the H&K and Glock part.

I have a G30 and USPc 45. I prefer the USPc, mainly for the better grip ergonomics (IMO). I also prefer the cocked and locked capability of the H&K variant I have. They are both extremely reliable and accurate. Don't have any experience with the G21, though would suspect the grip's just as big around as the G30. You do get a couple extra rounds with the Glocks, however.

Currently my G30 (with magazine extentions) is one of my favorite gun, if not my favorite. The size makes it perfectally balanced and the H&K USPc looks like it would be closer then the G21. One of the reasons I would like to get the 21 is so I can modify it.

Do they make a 22lr conversion kit for the H&K?

Check out Badger Arms post on Glock 21 Ka Boooooms here

Pop goes the GLOCK

Real scary if a Police Department is pulling them

Portland Police Chief Derrick Foxworth has ordered a recall of .45-caliber Glock Model 21 firearms, weapons carried by 230 Portland officers.

Follow the link, Badger Arms has a link to the real article in his post.

First, lets again take a look at how many Glock .45 pistols are out there in service and then lets look at how many have gone KB. What's better odds, your next flight going down, winning the lottery, getting struck by lightning or having your Glock blow up? However, I still say the HK is the better gun. Ergonomics are excellent and also feature an ambidextrious magazine release as well (though it's position makes it easier to drop the magazine with your trigger finger. Takes a little getting used to but when you practice it a few times it's faster than other autos dropping the magazine with your thumb.) Modular design lets you make it into a DOA, standard DA/SA, DA/SA selective mode, left hand, right hand or add the ambidextrious safety lever and you can either decock it or carry it cocked and locked and do it with either hand. Now I know SC doesn't get cold enough to wear gloves but up here in the dead of winter when you are going to be wearing heavy gloves, I can get my finger into the trigger guard of my USP when I can't get my gloved finger shoved into the trigger guard of my Glocks. Big selling point to me up here!!!

I'm a big H&K fan, but stating this might be going out on a limb. . .
The HK probably has a longer service life than the Glock
I'd say they are probably pretty comparable as far as service life is concerned.

Wow, great info Grunt. So you can get kits for the different varients. That is sweet. I will have to look into that. I will be back by the shop on Saturday and will let you all know what I have decided. Right now I am leaning H&K. 1 of the reasons is because i am still hoping to get a cheap used G21 so I can customixe it. 2nd I like the idea of ordering varient kits and being able to chance the H&K features.

Thanks,

I am a HUGE Glock fan.....

But the .45 caliber Glocks are not their most durable models

Their 9MM's are their best work

Yeah, I think you are going to love the USP. As for parts, HKPro has a pretty good selection. If they don't have it, check out the boards and they might be able to steer you in the direction you need to find replacement parts or even have the different variant parts you are looking for.

I have both, shoot & carry either - but I'm in love with my USP Compact. My G21 has seen a lot of rounds through it, never failing once (and the vast majority of the ammunition was handloads, 230 FMJ in various configurations), but the ergonomics of the HK is simply outstanding.
