Unrelated to SN, it has a date stamp on it, left side above trigger guard on my USP, mine is a KF code, which is 96. A=0 B=1 C=3 and so on.

O.K. thanks N.G.

So obviously the first letter is code for month, the second for year? So simple, yet sneaky I never would have guessed that.

The two letter code that HK uses is strictly the year (the last two digits in a four digit year).

Here is a thread explaining the system:

My P2000 LEM 9mm has a "AC" code, which means it was made sometime in 2002 (the A=0 and the C=2). Walther does the same thing on their P99 pistols. The funny thing is, I have the case fired collected envelope and it states H&K test fired it on 20/5/2003, not in 2002 like you would think based on the two letter year code (I guess my pistol sat around at the factory for a bit before they got a chance to test fire it:confused:). My H&K P7PSP doesn't have the two letter code, it is imprinted with the following month/year format: example: 9/83, on the slide. If there is a way to track down the month in which your P2000 was made using the serial number, I'm not aware of it. Calling H&K may be the only way.

Anyone know how I can determine what date my P2000 was manufactured?

Did your P2000 come with a spent casing? If so it has a date on the envelope, probably close to when the gun was made.

Yeah I don't understand that envelope, it's not set up like any factory shipped fired casing envelope I've ever seen. Something about "collector's initials", and date collected in '07, which does match my date code on the slide of "AH"- just weird, why would H.k. mark the envelope this way?

great

Thanks (again) markk. I do believe the date is as coded according to your link.

Hey, while you're here- one more question on those p2000 mags? U.S.P.c mags work in a P2000- but do they share the same baseplates? Why I ask is I found the U.S.P.c flat baseplates, just not sure if they will fit in between the notches at the bottom of the grip like part number specific for the p2000 baseplates you gave me earlier. Otherwise, the guy at H.K. said in a couple of weeks he'd have the actual part for p2000 in.

They are only $7, guess it's worth the risk even if they don't work. BUt these lipped mags have got to go. At this point I'd even buy a new 10 round mag if I found one that was flat at the bottom.
