H&K USP vs H&K P2000

Incorrect, sorry.

The P2000 is not striker fired. It has a hammer, albeit a bobbed one, and a slide mounted decocker. The main difference in the two is the total ambidexterity of the P2000, and the interchangeable grip components. The P2000 is slightly smaller and lighter, also.
For the money, unless you are a lefty, the USPC 9mm is a better buy. For what the P2000 costs, you can get a USP compact 9 and five magazines and a holster.

So why does H&K even produce the P2000? What was the purpose of R&D, new production tools/molds, etc.... to build a gun that really isn't that different from the USP?

I have both and trust me, the P2K is worth the extra money. The grip is not checkered on the P2K like it is on the USP. Also, the trigger is much smoother on both DA and SA than the USP. That in itself, IMHO, is worth the extra money. The P2K includes 4 backstraps for 4 different grips.

Get both :D
The P2000 is smaller than the USP, it's also lefty friendly. This is also better for little handed guys, while the USP is usually for guys with gloves coming out of the water. :)

Must stop the Iraqi minister of misinformation: P2000 is not striker fired. It has a hammer.

Besides the light rail and the diffrent magazines and the ambi controls and the availability of the lem and the price and the performance and the holsters and the names and the intentions for marketing. they are basically the same gun.My p2000 comes in next week. I am very excited

The P2000 is a tiny bit bigger and the top of the slide is more tapered but you can still use most holsters made for a USPc for it. The difference is negligible.
