I have an old H&R single shot 28 ga. shotgun that is giving light primer strikes, does anyone know where I can get parts for and older H&R? I'm not sure of the model as i jsut thought about posting this question here at work.

Thanks,
Travis

I don't know about parts, but Brownells is always a good start. The other thing you may want to try is cleaning everything very thoroughly. Years of accumulated (often unseen) crud can gum things up. I've seen a couple O/Us which have been problematic until the action has been removed from the wood and completely cleaned.

Hey thanks...I shoulda thought of brownells...ill check that out tonight when I get home and with the model. the gun has stayed clean over the years, but you do have a point with removing the stock. i will give that a go.

Thanks,
Travis

Trapper gives great advice.

Removing from the stock , and letting the action soak ( gasoline, mineral spirits, Coleman Lantgern Fuel is what I have done. Air hose, lube, air hose to spread lube around.

I broke a H&R in 28 ga once in my "T&E" err..days. [ don't ask] - H&R was very nice, and prompt about the Repair when I sent it to them.

Thanks for the advice guys.....the gun was my grandmothers, so it has sentimental value. It has shot many Partrige (Ruffed Grouse) in its day. I want to be able to reliably shoot it once again. The thing is super light and patterns nicely. Only drawback is its a single, oh well. It does just what it was supposed to.
