I bought a H&R 929 sidejick. ser# starts with S. I read it is from 1956. I shot 27 rounds of Federal value pack high velocity tonight. I was told that it will damage the gun. Is this true? Seemed good to me. Its my 1st revolver and very nice/fun to shoot. Any advice would be great. Thanks

You shouldn't have any problems. It's a post-World War Two revolver and can handle any .22 Short, Long, or Long Rifle ammunition marketed today. You may find however, that standard velocity cartridges are more accurate.

There is a difference between high velocity and hyper velocity .22 ammo. I for one would avoid hyper velocity just to be safe, and because I'm not sure what its use would be unless maybe self defense or hunting.

Fyi, if your 929 has the adjustable rear sight be careful since they are notorious for loosening and falling out. I've made two for mine so far.

I thought the hyper velocity stuff also had a lengthened case and more powder in addition to a lighter bullet?

Fusion, I got a 929 recently as well. As mentioned there's simply no need to worry about using the usual HV stuff. But you may find, as I did, that it likes to group a little tighter with standard velocity ammo.

I also have a question for you. I find that my cylinder is a little rattle'y in the frame due to a whole lot of issues related mostly to sloppy seating in the frame for the arbor pin on both ends. I'm wondering if your 929 shares this same trait.

AFAIK, only CCI Stingers. Other hyper velocity rounds use standard 22LR cases. FWIW, I have fired Stingers in my H&R 923 with no apparent problems

Very little as far as rattley. This is the first revolver I ever used or owned so I really have nothing to compare it to. Next Eastern P.A gun show I will have to check out some others.
