Sorry gang, didn't find the shotgun forum at first, so I'll post again here.
Our nephew bought a minty, older H&R-marked Spanish over/under.
There is a tang mounted safety/barrel selector, and he says that, when he selects/dry fires a barrel, it is necessary to move the selector to dry snap the other barrel.
Is there any chance that the recoil of the first shot would set the second barrel, or is the selector motion the only way to do it?
Hope that is enough info to be useful; thnx.

My Franchi I bought this past year is the same way. If I over exaggerat a flinch on the first pull sometimes it will be set for firing the second barrel. Didn't know H&R made doubles, will have to look into that.

Is this the gun?

It's an H&R Pinnacle, they were introduced in 1995. The site I found this on did not specify a manufacturer, but it looks like a lower-end Spanish or Turkish gun, made in 12 and 20ga.

Thanks, guys. Glad those voices in my head about recoil setting the second barrel weren't just my memory! I hear lots of things in there that may or may not be true. ;)
Haven't actually handled it; he told me about it at a family gathering. Yes, entropy, it's a single trigger setup.
Suggested he bump the butt on the floor after dry firing, to see if that sets the other barrel. Does that make sense?

Never knew H&R imported an O/U. That's interesting. The Pinnacle pictured above looks like a Lanber, though the top lever seems too delicate. Anyone have more info on them?

Found a reference to the Pinnacle being made by Verona in Italy. Verona made a good gun.

I'll run into the guy again today; unhappily, family funeral, and share some of the info.
Thanks guys, huge help, new guy here, and appreciate the responses.
