Needing some info on a H&R Sportsman 999. So far all I've been able to figure out is that it was made in 1976. It has a bunch of levers and buttons. Not real sure what they're for. Hate to take it apart and things fly everywhere. Any information needed, I can supply. I'll put photos up after lunch. Thanks

There were quite a few variations of the 999, from the early guns in the 1930's on. Pictures are definitely needed.

Mmmmmm?

Not so you would notice.

The only moving parts are the trigger, hammer, cylinder, and top latch.

There is a small catch on the left side of the frame used to remove the cylinder for cleaning.
Push it in and the cylinder will slide off the back.

And don't take it any further apart then that!!
There should be no need too if it works now.
