I was looking at a h&R 929 22 revolver the other day. the price is decent adn the gun is in excellent condition. Tight lock up and DA and SA seems to work well. The gun has a side port for sxtrating shell but does not half cock to spint he cylinder. Is that typical of the gun. i was told you have to remove the cylinder to load it and unload it and use the cylinder rod/ejector rod to eject stucl spent casings.... is that correct or should it have a half cocking mechanism to allow the cylinder to spin? any help would be great.

Push in the button under the cylider pin (in front) and pull the cylinder pin out; the cylinder drops out. If you have an old one, you'll have to pop out your empties one by one with the pin. If you have a newer one (post WWII-early fifties,) you can push in the center cylinder hole and an extractor will dump all nine rounds. It's no frills but it'll probably still be working when we're all dust.

I like H&Rs. They're solid, reliable guns for cheap and a bunch of 'em are easily tweakable. I have more than a few, including three 922s. PM me if you have any questions. Enjoy your gun!

Sanders,
Just curious, how many forums are you going to ask this question on, before you believe us? LOL

LoL I do believe the info that you guys have given me, but no one has acutally answered the question. I know how to remove the cylinder and realize that is the fastest way to reload, i was wanting to know if the gun has half cock in it or or is the spring broken... finally Woad_ Yurt got the me the right info through a PM. So props to him... LOL thanks for the help guys.

I have some parts for an H&R Sportsman. Almost every part except for the frame. If anyone has need, I would part with them for almost nothing. Not doing too much for me.

If/when you dig up threads from using the search function it's a wise idea to look at the date of the first and last posts before replying with an offer of this sort.

Also most forums, and I'm pretty sure that THR is one such, have rules about trying to sell stuff in the discussion area instead of posting the items for sale in the "For Sale" fourm.

Hello Sanders,

H&R made working grade guns but some of the older ones were as fine as any Smith. If I remember correctly you could pull the hammer back just a bit and it would drop the cylinder lock allowing you to turn the cylinder freely, that way you could use the open notch for loading. You still had to pull the pin to dump the empties so it was six of one half dozen of the other...may be worth a try.
