H110 or lil'gun for .300blk

I got my hands both h110 and lil'gun. Is there much difference between the two. The only projectiles I have are Hornady 150gr sst's. I know they work great for deer. When I can find something else, what is a better all purpose bullet weight. I notice the 150's have less load data. Any help would be welcome.

When I loaded some .357 Magnum ammo with both I got an average of 100 fps more velocity in a Carbine with Lil'Gun across the bullet weight range without sacrificing accuracy. I'm willing to wager you will achieve superior velocity with Lil'Gun over H100 in your ammo too. That's a lot of additional velocity especially since the pressure reports show less pressure with Lil'Gun.

I have been very happy using W296/H110 with 110 grain and 125 grain bullets in the the 300 BLK.

I have also been having good success with Alliant 2400 as well.

I have tried Lil Gun in 410 shot shells and it did not work as well for me as W296 in that application so I have not pursued it farther. I have about a half a pound left and do not know what I will do with it.

In the 300 BLK with 150-155 grain bullets, I like AA1680.

I shoot only supersonic loads in my 300 BLK.

Yes. I am with you on only supersonic loads for 300 blk. Right before deer season, I found a box of Acme ammo. I think they are commercial reloads. They were 150 SST's and they worked great on the three deer I killed with them. I wish I could get there load data.

Lil Gun is extremely hot. And I mean temp wise. I've never had the barrel of my 357 get hot that fast. I'm not sure how it would work for 300BLK. But I won't be using it in my revolver or carbine anymore.

spent a day with lilgun and wc297 and 110 in loaded ammo in my beowulf. Dump a 7 shot clip off on a cold barrel with 297 or 110 and you could grab the gun by the barrel it was very warm but still not hot enough to burn you. Do the same with lilgun and you can about light a cigerette off the barrel. Its not a powder for a semi auto gun or handgun that is going to be shot fast. I dont use it in anything anymore. I gave away the last of mine and wont buy it anymore. theres other powders that do as well or close enough to it that i just cant see risking damaging a gun to get 50 more fps.

I don't do 'sub-sonics'.

Being cheap, I did my testing with 147 grain GI pulls and some final testing with 150 grain 'Interbond'.

I found that seating depth has a greater degree in velocity (pressures) with the Blackout than other rounds that I load/have loaded. I also only use a LEE FACTORY CRIMP DIE.
Weapon tested is 16 inch DSA SS with Carb gas system.
All velocities at 10 feet.

With the above said...

H110/296 (I've tested both and get the same results - they are the same ) produces greater velocities at my acceptable pressure standards (primers flatting, expanding primer pockets, case head/web expanding - these are my arbitrary standards of acceptability) over Lt'Gun. However, Lt'Gun gives me some what better consistency and accuracy (marginal but enough to make me happy).

Using RP 300 Blackout brass with RP primers followed with CCI 400 primers and later with reformed Lake City GI brass and CCI 400 primers, all full length sized and trimmed before each loading.

H110/296:
Starting load 16.4g - 1928fps - 2.065in
Loads maxed at 17.5g - 1993fps - 2.065in (minor pressures)
Best load, 16.6g - 1945fps - 2.065in (very accurate)

Lt'Gun:
Stared at 14.5g, worked up to 15.4g - 2.160in.
Found 15.0g produced great results - 1870fps
5 shots, one hole at 100 yards as a norm. (these are GI pulls!)

Moving to 150 grain 'Interbond'.

H110/296 - 16.6g - 1908fps - 2.065in
Lt'Gun - 15.0g - 1791fps - 2.065in

The 'Interbond' premium bullets did better with the H110/296 loading but the GI pulls beat them out with the Lt'Gun.

My choice is Lt'Gun. H110/296 is also very good. For 110g V-Max, I like a loading of old Olin 630 best. As I don't shoot rapidly, I have not encountered excess heat from Lt'Gun.
Try both and see what your weapon likes best. This is the fun of loading for me.

I have herd subs aren't good past 100 yds. I have not tested this yet, but sounds reasonable. Besides a suppressor still cuts the noise level down a lot, even on a supersonic round.

The whole reason I wanted an AAC was to have a suppressed AR. I have plenty of others that are better out past 100 yards. Heck, even my AR in 7.62x39 shooting brown bear is pretty accurate out to 300 meters with open sights. My girlfriend was beating a gong to death with that rifle on our last range trip. She likes it better than her .223 AR.

A1680 works well with supersonic bullets 150 grains and over.

H110 is better than Lil'Gun (for 300 BLK) as it is more temp stable.

Oh you can hit far beyond 100 yards with subs lol. At 500 yards my 220 smk is around 400 foot pounds of energy. Drop is significant though... at around 20 mils. IPSC full size targets are not safe at that distance where I shoot.

Definitely something fun to mess with.

As far as powders, I like AA1680 for the AR15. If you are going for bolt loads, you have a LOT more flexibility. I have had good experience with Lil gun, VVn110, Red Dot, trail boss, and American Select depending on bullet weight.

AA1680 for 150's to get velocity. For 125s I like a bit faster powder and AA #9, N-110, & 2400 will all work. I like 2400. I want to try 4100/Enforcer, but haven't found any yet.

Thanks! I may have to look for A1680. Anyone close to me want to trade a can of lil'gun for a can of A1680 or H110. Will use the open can and then switch to h110.
