Now that I have a Glock 19. I am interested in a hammer fired 9 mm. My options are a Sig 2022, CZ 75b or cz p-07. I would consider an FNX9 but they cost too much. Thanks for your suggestions. This is more of range gun than carry gun since I have the Glock 19 as carry gun. I just want to have the contrast of a hammer fired 9mm with DA/SA trigger. I guess another option is the Taurus 809 or 809c. Thanks for your suggestions.

I'd go for the true classic...the CZ 75B. I'm hooked on em. I finally got another .22 conversion for mine to save on ammo a bit. Works on my 75Bs, 75 compact, and Rami (though it looks quite strange on the sub compact frame. :D

Get something with a metal frame before you buy another plastic gun. So, CZ 75 B from what you've listed.

I'd look at a Beretta 92FS or 92A1 and a Browning Hi-Power before buying, though.

For fun range gun 75 all the way. However.com if you go p-07 you'll soon find it as your favorite CC pistol and can sell the glock and then pickup a 75.

In my opinion, guns are like wives, every one has to pick his own to have and to hold!

Consider a Beretta 92 variant (92FS, 92A1, 92G) or a Beretta PX4 Fullsize or Compact. Beretta makes outstanding handguns that don't get enough love in recent years.

If you're unwilling to deviate from your options, I'd rank them in this order:

1.) SP2022
2.) CZ-75B
3.) CZ P-07

I am not as fond of CZ and/or the CZ-75 as much of the online gun community and I find them a touch overpriced for what they are. That said, I respect their status as a well-loved, well-proven pistol, and if you find a CZ fits you well, you could do a heck of a lot worse.

I think that you'd find the size of the all-steel CZ 75 Compact more to your liking. (Assuming, of course, that you don't have a fetish for Tupperware guns.)

New, used, or don't care either way? Can't go wrong with CZ, as many have said. Also, the old Ruger P-series is good if you've got big hands. S&W 3rd gen semi-autos are also nice, just not my cup of tea. Daewoo DP51 is a pretty cool pistol too, as is it's modern equivalent, the Lionheart LH9.

It all depends on what you want it for. Its pretty hard to pass a 2022 by.

I will be the first to agree that you can find better looking guns than the 2022.

But you will never find a better gun. The 2022 is just outstanding in everyway (except perhaps in looks).

Narrowed down to 2022 and p-07

The SIG 2022 and CZ P-07 are my top two choices. I can get both online for under $400.00.

I have the SP2022 in 9mm and it is a fun and accurate shooting pistol, love the single action trigger, double action is OK overall a real fun shooting pistol in my opinion and eats all my reloads. It has no preference on ammo that I can tell. 2022 gets my vote.

I don't think you go wrong with any of these three. The P-07 Duty is absolutely no slouch. I really liked mine. I ended up giving it to my FIL for Christmas last year, but I kept the extra mags and holsters knowing that I'll have one again.

I am torn on the P-07. I held the original, first-gen with "Duty" on the slide right after it came out and I just loved the heck of it. I much prefer it to the new one with forward serrations. However, apparently the new variant has stronger polymer and other improvements. Can't decide if the first-gen one would still be worth it.

My vote is for Sig 2022 great gun at a very good price. I have one as well as many other Sigs and this is gun is a steal you can buy online at several places for $340 or so. CZ's pistols do intrigue me enough to want one and the CZ rifles I own are all well built and accurate. CZ's and Sig's both have an almost cult-like following and there is usually a good reason for that so either will likely be a great gun to pickup.

While I would vote for the P2022 NIB you might consider a used Sig P226, I picked one up off Arms List last year for about the same as a new P2022. And the P226 is by far more gun.

My vote goes to cz 75B, but that's maybe because I just picked mine up last night . My second choice would be a beretta 92fs. I had one years ago that was just flat out awesome in every way. The 2022 will not disappoint you also. I see these with lasers and night sights for around $400 (WOW). You just gotta find your cup of tea because the hammer fired 9mm markets is flooded with really good guns. Why not a p09 duty?

I can't believe how long it took the 2022 to "wake up." Glad to see it has. I don't have one, but was intrigued when they came out.

That being said, I do own the Ruger P95, and it's a great, robust, and easily shot gun. With 115-grain stuff in it, it feels like a big .380. For some reason, I actually do far better with it than I did years ago with it agency-issued predecessor, the P85. Guess I've learned something in those years..

Gik-tal good advice. I have purchased P226's new and used and there really isn't any mystery to buying a used Sig....pull the slide off check the rails for wear, verify function of slide hold back and de-cocker and eyeball the barrel for excessive wear outside and inside. Everything, except the frame (and even that is fixable with a trip to Sig) is easily removed and replaced with simple hand tools. Some repairs really should goto a qualified armorer but the Sigs I own have typically needed very little in the way of repairs, mostly just springs which I feel are maintenance items and one slide hold back that wore out. I have several German made guns which are 35 years old and they are still tight and super accurate so with proper care and maintenance you will own a metal framed Sig for life. I cant say the same with any polymer frame pistol but this isn't an opinion its just ignorance since I have only Kahr's and Sig's, with polymer frames for less than 7-8 years and cannot provide an opinion on their potential useful service lives. My guess its very long and likely as long as metal framed guns but now we get to far off topic.

Well, like you say, polys haven't really been around long enough to have a large enough sample to test, but I do work with a deputy on year 18 of duty carrying a Glock 17, and he says it still runs like a sewing machine. Still shoots it regularly. Just keeps magazines and springs up to date. For whatever that is worth.

I'm not a Sig fan, but I can't get with the thinner slides of the CZ's, I like something I can easily grab. So I would probably go with the Sig. The 2022, is in my mind no doubt their best buy, if it took 226 mags with would be a better buy.

The CZ is quality piece IF you can get with the thin slide. I've heard nothing but good from their owners. Neither will disapoint you.

i've owned a cz85. A very accurate and reliable gun. Cocked and locked carry makes it very attractive and the weight a joy to shoot for a range gun.

The sig pro series are a best kept secret. Was issued one in the model 2340. Found the initial DA trigger stroke to be better than any other da/sa trigger that i had experienced including the CZ, beretta 92, Ruger p89, and even better than a Sig 226. Hated the special accessory rail on that gun but that has been corrected with the new model.

Don't know much about the p07.

Of the three guns listed, my choice would be the Sig. A range specific gun is nice, but I also want a gun that I could use for concealed carry. I appreciate the lighter weight Sig along with its reliability and my own experienced/earned reputation as a fine defensive firearm. Also, there appears to be more holster options available for the Sig.

Agreed! Buddy of mine has a CZ 75 and loves it.
I have an SP2022 and he drools over it. I got mine in the FDE finish and love the thing.
I shoot reloads through mine and it handles them perfectly.
