Handbags showing gun outline designed to deter robbers

Handbags showing the outline of a gun or a knife are being sold to women to protect them from robbers.

Two Dutch designers are behind the handbags which make it look as if they contain a weapon.

Hein van Dam, 28, and his colleague Carolien Vlieger, 27, are behind the designs which also include a handbag featuring the outline of a crucifix.

Mr van Dam told Het Laatste Nieuws: "People like our handbags. Most of our clients understand there is no real pistol or knife hiding in this handbag.

"Only to older people we have to explain what the meaning is of the handbag and that we don¹t want to send everyone armed into the streets."

He says they have developed the designs in response to media reports of growing fear of crime in their home city of Rotterdam.

The handbags can be bought online for £60 each at the Studiostraks website.

Kind of leaves me scratching my head.

Pictures of the purses at the website.

<scratches head>
Methinks concealed is concealed.
More of a target IMO.
Snatch and grab-or
BG stereotype one as definite sheeple-prey.

shoes to match gonna be tough
can't wear semi with wheelie?

Must . . . wrap . . . duct . . . tape . . . around. . . . urggh . . . . head!

Some people are so stupid it makes baby ducks cry.

I cannot picture Tamara with a salmon pink purse.

Yeah, but tactical black with a lead lining for that added velocity prior to cranial impact is pretty kicking...

I presume this is for vampire-protection?

This is an example of soul-searing primoridial stupid, if ever I saw it. I mean, against a stupid so mind-bogglingly powerful, so awe-inspiringly dumb, what force could dare contend? Fly, you fools!

Mike

Vampires,

Coronach, you might not be that far off. It seems that these people are indeed applying magical talismanic power to images. They acknowledge that there are not any weapons, just images, but still suggest they are good for self defense.

I can see the scenario: a woman buys one of those gun-outline purses, then flies over here for whatever. One of the local pond-scum on <drug-of-choice> thinks "Hey, I can score a gun!" He snatches the purse, discovers there's no gun, then beats/kicks/stabs the woman for putting him through so much effort for nothing...

Okey Dokey.

I think I hear an Oreo Cookie calling my name. I`ll be back.....real soon.

Something above gave me a thought. Preacher not around...check six...OK

Boy could Preacher really fool the BG's with a salmon pink purse with a crucifix!!!

ya'll didn't know I could run that fast...huh? :D

Boy, what a stupid idea. If it wasn't hard enough already to convince women NOT to use their pursue to conceal a gun in a handbag already. Gee, don't think this would encourage a violent confrontation with a theif that thinks you're carrying, do you? Right up there with carrying visable and unloaded. :banghead:

Most of our clients understand there is no real pistol or knife hiding in this handbag.
Ahh, as opposed to the criminals, who will doubtless be too stupid to quickly figure this out .
we don¹t want to send everyone armed into the streets
No, of course not. Faux guns are much superior to the real thing.

It would be fun though to stand back and watch someone try to go through airport "security" with one of those bags. :D Probably wind up arrested for inducing panic or something.

Greg

Ok, so your in trouble too--with Tamara--good luck, Gots my own problem with Preacher, see ya' :D

Notice the graffitti in the pic? I have no problem with Divine help, but I think I'm also to do my part--I'd rather have a gun...
