I keep trying to buy a new gun and Handgun Hero keeps stopping me.
(Handgun Hero is a website where you can visually compare handguns in terms of size, weight, capacity, and a bit more. https://www.handgunhero.com/ You can take two guns and superimpose on over the other and see how they stack up...pretty cool.

Anyway, I was thinking of an Beretta APX Centurion (Or Canik TP9SF Elite) 'till I laid the APX over my Beretta PX4 compact. Exact same size. And as the PX4 had a bunch of work done on it Langdon, that was the end of my APX quest. (I also put it alongside my Sig 320 compact and...same size.)

I've also been thinking about a Shield or PDP or Taurus G2 or 3 or TriStar 120 or M&P compact....and all strike out, size-wise, against something I already own like a Walther PPS or a Magnum ResearchM9/S&W99/Walther P-99.

Looks like I'm just gonna have to buy a bunch more ammo, until the guy who advertised a PPQ for $350 returns my emails. I had one and stupidly traded it away. At that price I don't care how it stacks up against anything I have, I gonna get it and to hell with HandgunHero.

I use that site all the time…it’s talked me out of (and into) purchases. Especially in recent times when supply in the LGS hasn’t been very plentiful, it helps to have a quick and easy way to compare guns side-by-side.

If they play "Cities On Flame with Rock & Roll" in the background (by Blue Oyster Cult), I'll then try Handgun Hero. Get it? It was very popular on "Guitar Hero".

Well...I don't see my S&W 908 or 6904, nor a Makarov.

That's interesting, overlapping my former Sig P228 with my CZ PCR.
Much better than nothing.

I have used it several times to see how some of the various high capacity, subcompact 9mm.s compare, like the SIG P365, Springfield Armory Hellcat, and S&W Shield Plus. Curiously enough though is that they don't have a Browning Hi-Power in their line-up.

The APX Centurion is a compact just like the PX4, P320, HK VP9, Walthet PPQ, etc. Yes, they all are going to be similar in size. With the APX, it's a chassis system, so you can switch to a Subcompact frame if you want to go smaller. On top of that, the APX grip and ergos feel are better than the PX4 Compact (I own both), and one is DA/SA hammer fired and the other striker fired. One has a slide mounted safety/decocker and the other does not. The APX has factory 10, 13, 15, 17, 21 round mags, threaded barrels, optic ready options, grip modules of different colors and sizes, flat faced trigger, under cut trigger, better grip texture, aluminum magwells, +2 mag extentions, etc over the PX4. My point is, you are disregarding a bunch of other stuff that differentiates one gun from another because you are too fixated on size. Even if two guns are of similar sizes, one might have more features, feel better in your hand, and you might even be more accurate with one over the other.

Of course the Taurus G2 & G3 are going to be bigger than the PPS being that one is a single stack and the other is a double stack holding almost 2x as many rounds.

The Magnum ResearchM9/S&W99/Walther P-99 are going to weigh more, have less aftermarket support, not going to be covered under warrenty if things should break, and are heavier gun respectively.

Seems like you're disregarding dozens of other factors and pros that some of the other options have over what you currently own because you're too obsessed with dimensions. You are also comparing apples to oranges in many of your examples.

It's a good site on which to begin your handgun search, but as previously noted, the way the grip fits, feels and balances the gun are not easily described. The problem is, our original equipment varies. Still, thanks for bringing handgunhero.com to our attention. It's another useful tool.

?????

They don't compare on anything?? (other than height"

I click link and scroll down to see...
height 365/442: 4.3/4.2
length 365/442: 5.8/6.3
weight 365/442: 17.8/14.4 oz
width 365/442: 1''/1.3''
capacity 365/442: 11 rounds/5 rounds

Well, If you think those are comparable, so be it

An interesting site but really only good for reference of specs and measurements and not real world comparisons.

Nonetheless it is another tool to use.

I like visiting the LGS and trying out how they feel personally even if I don’t get to shoot before I buy.

Except nothing matters except how it feels in your grubby mitts.

There is a lot of attention given to "feel", even to beginners who don't know what a gun should feel like.
If you join the Army or the Podunk PD, that instructor is not going to ask you how you like the "feel" of your issued weapons.

But then we are retail buyers so we get to pick by whatever criteria we like.
I am sure I could shoot a Glock better than I do, with enough training and practice, but not being stuck with one, I normally use Something Else.

I think that's why most level headed objective people in the gun community would tell beginners to go down to their LGS to put their hands on, manipulate, and maybe even rent and shoot several guns vs looking at specs online or going to buy a Glock by default because that's what many will push.
