So still working on this.

For the concealed handgun permit in Virginia, do I need to provide the dates I lived at an address? Or just the addresses?

The background for this is that I enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2007. I know I lived at one address. At some point, I can't remember exactly when, I changed my address in Virginia to my parents' house. Since getting out, I've rented my own apartment and changed my address on my driver's license accordingly.

Addresses I'm good on. Dates, I'm a little fuzzy ...

While the actual VA application only asks for your current address, it also instructs you to "ATTACH A SEPARATE LISTING OF ALL ADDRESSES WITHIN THE LAST 5 YEAR PERIOD"

The follow-on "error-check" FAQ then notes that this list must contain the dates of those addresses.

Their objective is to check whether there are adverse reports on you at these locations, and whether you are stably situated.

My counsel is to list the information the best of your ability, and add a marginal note that the exact dates may be approximate -- and why. If you were actually on assignment in the USMC during that time, tell them that as well -- including where/why you were stationed & when.

That should cover the bases and satisfy any questions as to who/where you were.
(At least this did for me)
