Hi Guys. I've been posting the last few days about picking up some new handguns, mainly for target and just wanting more handguns!!! I live in the western suburbs of IL and am looking for recommendations on your preferred dealers. I've been to Midwest, Gun World, Maxon, GAT, any others you like.
I see such a huge shift in pricing from dealer-dealer. It also seems the closer I get to the WI border or even shops in WI the prices are less expensive? Don't know why.

Here my list of possibilities. Can you provide a good or average OTD price on each.

Revolvers:
Ruger GP100 SS - 3" and 4" .357
Ruger SP101SS - 3" .357
SW 686 SS 4" and 686P 6"
SW Model 620 SS .357 4"
SW Model 60 SS .357 5" ( Does it come in 3")?
Taurus Tracker SS .357 4"
Taurus Tracker SS 4" or 6" .17

Autos
Ruger P Series 9mm and .40
Taurus 24/7 9mm and .40 Bi-Tone and Black
Taurus Millenium .380 ( I think this is the correct model )
Beretta 92FS ( no rail ) Black or SS 9mm and .40
SA XD series 4" 9mm and .40
SA XD series 5" tactial 9mm and .40
SA PX8151L
SA PX9104L
SA PX9109L
SA PX9142L
SA PX9628L
Sig P226 9mm Bi-Tone and Black.

I know there's a lot here, believe me I can go on, but these are the ones I'm really considering. I plan on getting at least 2-3 revolvers and at least 2-3 autos, at least one of them a 1911 style.

Thanks Guys. This is a great website.!!!!!!

telli97,

I think your barking up a hollow stump. I've noticed some gun dealers from other states on the various forums I frequent, but I've never seen an IL gun dealer.

Your best bet is to look up the local dealers in your area and give them a call.

It's a buyers market, shop around.
Chicagoland runs higher, mid central can produce some good buys, southeast can too but the closer to St. Louis you get the higher the prices go.
Try the quad cities if you are living in the western dead zone, that or Farm King is about your only option over-over there.

Keep in mind too that most dealers will haggle with you. My tactic for over priced stores is to offer the sticker price as out the door "OTD". It works pretty well. Keep in mind that here in CA, there is a bucket load of extra charges that are added to the sticker price of a gun. Nothing like buying a gun for $450 and paying $512 to take it home
