I am looking for a small gun safe to store my handgun and a few magazines in. I want to keep it either in my nigh stand drawer (only a few inches tall), on top of the night stand next to a lamp or on the shelf below the night stand drawer.

I want something that allows quick, quiet access, in case of night prowler. I know there are models that use your fingers to unlock the door? I also played around with a couple at my local gun shop and was a little disappointed in the quality. What have you guys used to your satisfaction?

I have a large GunVault... works great, has been totally reliable for years, and holds two handguns, spare mags and flashlights with room to spare. It is big, though, so make sure it will fit where you need it. They do a smaller one too, and one with a fingerprint reader ($$$ though).

These small safes are great for keeping the gun ready for use yet inaccessible to kids and curious adults, but I doubt they would delay a burglar for long - I'd expect a crowbar to pop the door open in no time - so make sure you conceal it from casual observation too.

Costco has a motel safe that you close by swiping a credit card then open it with the same card. Or you can use a key pad or a key. It is a bit large for what you are wanting but it looks really pretty good. It has holes for bolting it to something. I might buy one.

Hi blue ridge. We are currently offering a 30% discount this week only on our handgun safe. We have sold quite a few on this site over the last few months at 25% discount. You can mount it horizontal or vertical to just about any surface you like. Mine is mounted to my bedframe so with the lid open at night the gun is right next to my pillow. Hope you will consider our product for your needs.

Put the gun in the drawer!! Dont waste your money on stuff that will slow you down. As fr security, buy a Sigma and dont cry over a stolen gun.

I had the gunvault mini, tested it every friday without fail to makesure the unit would work. After owning it for 63 days which fell on a sunday the thing just stopped working. We had a large shaggy dog on the prowell that was foaming from the mouth " rabies " and the touch pannel would only beep on every other button pushed, resorted to the backup key to access. after dispatching said dog I checked the unit over, changed batteries ect no luck it was T/U and returned it. Wont risk using another one

I have the Gunvault on my nightstand and love it. I've had it at least three years now. It's been 100% reliable, I open it twice a day, every day.

I bought the deluxe model which has a small led light in it, it also comes with an AC adapter which I don't use. I change the batteries once a year.

If I bought another one, I'd shell out the extra cash for the one with the fingerprint reader.

Google "Titan Gun Vault" or "Titan Gun Vault reviews". I don't sell them or own one, but they look pretty good to me. I had a table at the last local gunshow and two guys were selling these at the next table. Of course I watched them go thru their demonstration enough I could probably do one for them! But, they looked like they would be an excellent choice. They had one mounted to a short lenth of bed frame. One of them claimed to have one mounted to his bed at home just like it. Looked like the way to go. One feature I liked, was when you open the door, its linked to a holster (I think it might be included), and pulls/lifts the handgun out of the safe so its right there to grab. No trying to reach in and dig out the firearm. Greg

I have two of these stacked in the closet. I like them OK but they are probably a good bit too large for any kind of nightstand use. I have 4 full size guns laying flat plus some other small stuff in one of them. I'm probably going to build a little shelf for each one so I can double the horizontal space.

They also make a lot of beeps when opening, at least when you are using a code. I haven't even tried a card...

I've heard a fair share of bad reviews about GunVault products breaking from frequent use.

What's their warranty period? Their website seems to lack that information.

Mine goes from belt to night stand, back to belt.

But, I am poor and would rather buy guns or ammo. If someone gave me one, I would probably be grateful.

I have 2 Gunvault products. The larger Multivault for my nightstand and the new Microvault for my car and for air travel. Both units failed after about 6 months but Gunvault issued RMA's immediately after I called and shipped me replacements within a week, including return UPS shipping. I have had no problems with the replacement units thus far. Gunvault is owned by Canon Safe Co. They seem to stand behind their products so I feel ok recommending them, even with the problems I had. I have heard but have no first hand knowledge that the biometric 9fingerprint) versions are slow to open.

The microvault comes with a security cable for locking in your vehicle and I even found a way to cable the case to the inside of my suitcase by using the internal pull handle tubes as an anchor.

I keep a G22 and a full size 1911 with spare mags in mine. My normal routine is to open the vault at bedtime and close it when I get up. That method allows no delay if you need to get to your weapon.

I don't use the motion detector feature and the light inside is pretty useless, but I like the size for holding 2 pistols and mags.

My .02

I don't know. My units were 6 months old and they were immediately replaced, no questions asked. They included ar return ship UPS label as well. Everyone produces lemons on occasion. I don't care because Gunvaiult took care of both problems.

They are probably made in China with uber cheap parts and labor.

American Security makes a lock box that can hold one or two handguns. It uses the push button Simplex mechanical lock and can be opened by feel in the dark. I bolted to my nightstand.

I've had a Deluxe GunVault for almost ten years, and it has been reliable. A burglar with a hammer could probably beat it open if he had some time, but it is definitely secure from any other unauthorized users.

I've had very good luck with the Gunvault Minivault for about 3+ years now. I just open it every few days to make sure it still works when I need it. For me, the batteries last roughly two years. I'm not sure about robbers, but it will definitely keep a child out of it. I also like that I can access it quickly in the dark.

I agree from belt to night stand back to belt. I ain't going to be trying to open some box. if I need my gun. Why not use a trigger lock also . You can be extra safe . Being you will have so much time to spare . I have safe for pistols or rifles. I am not using. I am not locking up my SD pistol at night.

This is what I've chosen. V-Line Top Draw Pistol Safe. (2.5" high)

I ended up with that same one. I wanted the Simplex lock and wanted a low profile (height) since my nightstand drawers are shallow. I did have to install a set of full-extension drawer slides to open the drawer far enough to open the lid far enough to have it stay up...and I did have to screw a few barbell weight plates to the back of the nightstand to keep the weight of a fully extended drawer with a heavy steel pistol case in it from making the whole works a little unsteady. I like the box enough that I'd have bought it even if I knew I'd have to mod the furniture a bit.
