An item of interest from out in the middle of the pacific.....

Teen says he helped friends try to steal car
A 13-year-old Waianae boy arrested Wednesday for allegedly breaking into a car last week told officers he was helping his friends who were trying to steal the car, police said.

Last Friday at about 2:20 a.m., an Ewa man was awakened by his son, who heard a noise in the driveway. The son found three males sitting in his father's car, police said.

Two of the males escaped but an 18-year-old was detained, police said. The suspect allegedly threatened the car's owner, 50, with a pipe wrench, but the owner had a handgun and told the suspect to sit down or he would shoot him. Police arrested the suspect for suspicion of terroristic threatening and breaking into a car.

Police found the 13-year-old Wednesday. After he was identified in a photo lineup as one of the males in the car, officers arrested him.

Isn't it grand that citizens still have the option of facing a pipe wrench with a handgun?

Let's all hope that doesn't change.

I half expected them to arrest the homeowner English style- their firearms laws are almost as bad.

Rule #1 of a gun fight: Have a gun
Rule #2 of a gun fight: Bring the gun
Rule #3 of a gun fight: If you have a pipe and the other guy has a gun, you didn't read rules #1 and 2...

I'm glad I'm reading about a guy who fended of potentially quite a bit of bodily harm or death with a gun...

Of course, Feinstein would have been happier if the guy was beaten to death...

Arrested for "suspicion of terroristic threatening"?

I would think assault. What are the penalties for "suspicion"?

And how is "terroristic threatening" different from gang threatening, or jealous lover threatening or just a bad day threatening?

Then ya gotta add the enhanced penalties for the suspicion caveat.

Time for coffee.

i half suspect that a cop with the inexplicably common desire to use as many big words as possible arrested him for "suspicion of terroristic threatening," but charged him with "assault."

I was as suprised as P35....

Hawaii tends to be a "be a sheep, the government will protect you" type of place. We are a "may issue" state that has apparently never issued for CCW and my contacts with police (as a school teacher writing statements about assaults at school) leads me to believe that a certain percentage of our officers would arrest and charge victims of assault that did anthing more to protect themselves than run or put their arms up to fend off blow.

Actions which would stop the attack are viewed by a certain percentage of the officers as assault in and of themselves. Unfortunately, our school system breeds that type of thinking because our disciplinary rules work along the same lines. In a fight between students the only way the original victim can escape also being suspended is to not have fought back but to have continually tried to leave or to have adopted a cowering covered position...pretty sad.

And how is "terroristic threatening" different from gang threatening

Terroristic starts with a T
Gang starts with a G

otherwise, it's basically the same lowclass thug...

THUG THUG THUG, that's what they are, low class thugs..
