Those of you that are using a Williams WGRS receiver peep rear sight on your 45-70 Handi rifles and discovered your factory front sight was not tall enough, how tall did you have to go with one total in inches ?

Ideally I'd like to find one off a .22 Hornet. I have heard those work .

I know I might have to go higher I just don't know how high.

Thanks.

There is a mathmatical formula you use to determine the height of your sight that is required.
Basicly the short version is.
What ever your rear sight blade notch or center of your peep sight hole is above the Center of your BORE, then your top of front sight has to match the same height above the Center of your Bore again.
There is a way to figure it by measuring your barrel diameter to find the center of your bore with a Tapered barrel.
When I shorten barrels on my rifles or change the barrels, I have to figure the required Front sight Ramp and the required front sight blade with that formula.

Do you have a Dial Caliper ?
I can help you if you need me to.
