Looking for anyones experience with either/ both:
Handloader Magazine and Wolf Primers.

Do you like/ dislike either. Why or why not?

Handloader magazine is a pretty good mag. I subscribed to it for many years.

I don't have any experience with Wolf primers, though their match .22 ammo is very good.

+1 on the Handloader mag, all the Wolfe Press mgazines are above average IMO.
No experiance with the primers.

I'll have to say the same as AZ and Joe.
Rifle Magazine I also find a good read.
Wolfe publishing also has a type of loading manual by Ken Waters that I also find a good read however, it's a little dated now.

The primers currently being sold by Wolf have an interesting story. The primers were originally imported from Russia by a guy in Arizona. David Tubbs thought so highly of them that he bought 700,000 of them. I've got about 4,000 left. The Russian primer manufacturer then contracted with PMC to sell them under the PMC brand. After that contract expired, the Russian manufacturer signed a contract to produce them for Wolf, who they are presently being sold thru. Great rifle primers that produce low ES and SD numbers.

I subscribe to all three Wolf magazines (Handloader, Rifle, and Successful Hunter) electronically, for about $15 a year IIRC. I like it, since they are .pdf files that can be searched, and they don't take up room like paper back issues. Handloader and Rifle are great; SH is pretty good too.

I have Handloader Magazine from Issue #1 to the present, in binders. It's the only magazine I keep. I also have some duplicates of early issues that I'll be listing on ebay sometime in the next couple of months.

Hope this helps.

handloader is one of the better newsstand rags.
I've reloaded and fired about 8k of the wolf primers in small pistol and large pistol. They are excellent primers in every regard and give no problems in either hand priming tools or Dillon presses. I have 10k left and plan to purchase 40-50k more in February. Regards.

Handloader is great. I bought the DVD set and am currently reading in 1978. I started in the original issue. Lots of great old information here. Also the DVD's are easy to search.

I bought the Rifle DVD set also but I have not even cracked it open yet.

This is the only data I have Wolf Primers. Seems to be a milder primer than my WLP

Since I have been unable to buy Federal large pistol primers, I bought 5000 Wolf. I have used about 2000 of them and here is what I found:

In a much modified Smith 25-2 with a very light double action trigger, Federals ignite 100 percent, Wolf somewhere between 90 and 95 percent - about 1 in 30 requires the second strike but they always fire then; Winchester is close to 80 percent and CCI just are not reliable enough to use for that gun.

In my semi autos (floating firing pin guns) all work fine.

I use a Lee Auto Prime (hand held unit) and the Wolf require a little more pressure to seat which leads me to believe they are slightly larger in diameter. I have not put a mic to one but you can tell the difference in feel.

I like the Wolf primers as a second choice and certainly a better price unit. They package them funny - they are upside down in the container!

I load them for practice and am loading the remaining Federals that I have for match shooting.
