FYI, I have been loading 5%-10% below max for the past 15+ years and have not seen unburnt powder - and I even use max OAL for most loads (1.125" for 9/40 and 1.25" for 45). Even shooting out of short barreled Glock 30 and PT145Mil Pro - no unburnt powder.

5.0 to 5.5 Grs W231
+1, very accurate - my favorite load for 45ACP.

So I reloaded 50 rounds
-25 5.8 grn HP-38 with 200 grn Rainer HP and S&P brass, win primers
-25 5.8 grn HP-38 with 200 grn Rainer HP and Winchester brass, win primers
I crimped all the rounds with the lee factory crimp die and crimped them well everything worked as advertised no more crap coming out of my gun. Thanks all again for the help!!!

I cant tell if its' copper from the bullet jackets or un-burnt powder.
... <snip> ...
Junk as in getting hit in the face with what feels like specks of grit.
So capture the grit with a damp rag ... some of it is bound to stick on and then you can examine it.

If it happens again Im gonna shoot with a damp rag over it and send it of to seattle CSI so I can find out exactly what it is and then throw my gun and reloading gear in a lake

It was just so absolutly frustrating I wont go through it again

Thanks again all for your help.
