I just decided I couldn’t go without a shooting bench any longer. After looking at all the available portable shooting bench options I decided to build one based on a Rockwell Jaw Horse RK9000. I already have one and it’s a very handy item to have in my “bag of tricks”. You can often find them on sale for about $160. I used a piece of 1 inch thick industrial countertop that’s been lying around my garage for a long time. You could easily substitute a piece of MDF or plywood. The only thing else that is needed is a couple scrap pieces of 2 X 4 lumber. I used Kreg tool fasteners for blind fastening the 2 X 4’s to keep the shooting surface clean. The overall dimensions of the shooting table are 24” X 45” to accommodate larger rifles. The weight of the Jaw Horse is 43# + table 31# making the total weight 74 pounds. The weight and tripod stance of the Jaw Horse makes for an extremely stable shooting platform. See the attached pictures. Scroll down to see second picture. Others available on request.
