Starting out the new year right! Heck, I might even wipe out my Frankford Arsenal tumbler!
This 10 qt bag will last me a year or maybe 10,000 cases. That's what I put the last one through.
My lovely wife picked it up for me at Petsmart for around 15 bucks.
You can tell when it's far past time to change the stuff.
Dull brass and dusty when separating after tumble.
I'm happier than Stimpy with a new bag of Gritty Kitty!

Bullseye, How would that Lizard litter work for polishing a "Horn Toad"? :) Seriously, that sounds like a great tip. I am going to try it. Thanks much.

You may get it cheaper at Harbor Freight but I'm not complaining to my wife.
I'm surprised you haven't used this Dog Soldier. I don't think a toad will help any but I add a dash of nu finish car polish and a little mineral spirits to the tumbler and run it awhile before adding brass so it gets mixed in good and there are no lumps.
The brass comes out quite shiny. The inside of cases, not as much but it is clean. I think the SS pins is better for getting inside of cases and pockets looking new.

You are supposed to change it? ☺
I just keep adding a touch of polish every once in a while. I forgot the walnut shell was that color, mine is black. Is that a problem?

Fouled bore,
Black not a problem, but might want to try used dryer fabric softener sheets once in a while. My wife saves them for me.

Bullseye, Having been around the oil fields and mines for decades I have used "Lost Circulation Filler". It is pecan and walnut hulls ground to a rock salt constancy. There are always broken bags so it is free. I add different cleaners and polish.:)

Yes it is a major problem. Any abrasive material; works by the Sharpe edges of the media. After it wears down it does not work as well or efficiently Kinda like sand paper, it doesn't last forever does it?
Besides that the material is contaminated with all kinds of lead and other nasty material. New, clean media should shine brass in 2 hours or less. But then there are those that that let it run all night..

Buy heck if you want to save a few pennies then that's up to you..

Harbor Freight is a toy store for those of us who are still kids. I always say I don't need anything. I am just going into Harbor Freight to look around.
It seems there is always a light or a wrench for my loading bench. Those little aluminum tool boxes are my latest pistol storage cases.

I use the same brand from the same place. Used to have some corncob in there too, but it stuck in the cases too often. Walnut's just right for sifting with a kitchen colander.

Yeah, I too prefer to tumble with fresh lizard litter.

The used stuff is pretty rank when the lizards get through with it. But the grit and acids from the lizard poo should really make that brass shine!

Just got done using it for three batches of brass. Nice and shiny and cleaner inside than I expected in very short order.
What a difference!
..... and it is poopless

Dog Soldier,
Put the Horn Toads in the plastic tub with a couple of bottle caps with water and a couple dozen crickets. In a week, release the toads (or start over with another batch of litter!).

Let us know how the "used" litter performed!

I used to do seperate tumblings with walnut to clean and corn to polish. Once I accidentaly mixed the media, ran it and it worked just fine. So now I use the pet store walnut product with the corn and a dab of media enhancer when needed and no more messing with 2 different media. The small walnut pieces seem to circulate efficiently to clean without any flash hole clogging. I suspect the finer yet heavier walnut product keeps the corn whirlling about so there are no problems with clogging the flash hole. As a matter of QC I always inspect the holes after tumbling.

I bought a flame thrower at HF the other day for $30. Attaches to a propane tank.

I find The Harbor Freight to be Very dusty. Much more than the Litter. . I try to cut the dust with Mineral sprits and Drier sheets. HF bill it as Blast media But using Blast media from DRILLSPOT or KRAMER Industries. They are superior.
Knowing HF products It is probable Just the bottom of the Barrel

We can't get lizard litter in our area. Don't know why...

That Rem and Stimpy reference reminds of a new (young) project manager. Walked around making hu-hu, hu-hu, sounds all day long. An idiot niece of a board member.
