Yesterday was my birthday and my wife really astonished me.
When my daughter handed me the package, size and weight said HANDGUN. When I got the paper off and box said Firestorm, I was worried I would have to smile and pretend to love a POS as I had looked at a firestorm some years back and was NOT impressed.
Open the box and was VERY surprised, fit and finish up to standard for any of the basic government models (springer, dancin pony, auto ordinace) in fact superior to some I have seen recently. Plus had Beaver tail grip safety and nice fixed sights. Action cycles very smoothly. Don't like the mag but nice mecgar also in box (added by dealer). (and second box was set of 6 Willson 47d). Although haven't shot yet (will tonight/this weekend) am very pleased.
Then my wife tells me she got it NIB with extra mecgar mag, a nice used softsided padded carry case and box of 50 remmington UMC fmj for only $250 out the door. Am more than very pleased. Maybe I should just tell what gun I want from now on and let her shop for me.
Now I have to decide what to do with said treasure. If it shoots as good as I suspect, am seriously concidering making my primary CCW (to replace my Kimber Custom Royale) as would not feels as bad losing as one of my higher priced 1911s. But have also been considering getting one of the mechsys carbine conversions. And then I have been thinking about taking one of the mail order Gunsmith courses and would make good project gun to do excerises on. Decisions, decisions.
Couple of questions:
1. It has a firing pin safety that appears to be same as the Kimber series II type (deactivated by grip safety) any one know if is same as Series II?
2. What is best mailorder Gunsmith school?
