I have several 1911's but I really wanted to get a super accurate one but couldn't swing >$2K for a Wilson or Baer.
I just purchased a used Kimber Target Match (one of 1000) in 45 ACP from a super guy in AL (really enjoyable transaction). It has about 300 rounds through it. Picked the pistol up yesterday and I'm very pleased on initial inspection.
The pistol is in excellent shape...near LNIB. The slide is "on-rails" tight with the frame...no discernable shake, rattle or roll. No movement when I push on the muzzle or barrel hood. The trigger is really lovely. A tiny bit of take-up, a glass-rod break at probably just under 4 lbs (although feels lighter because it is so crisp) and no overtravel. Very nice 30 LPI checkering on the front strap and under the trigger guard. The grips are nice with cocobolo and inlaid burl on the diamonds. The pistol screams understated performance to me.
Can't wait to get out and shoot this girl. The seller reported that it was extremely accurate with 185 gr SWC and fast target powders. That sounds really similar to my pet target loads of Hornady 185 gr SWC and 4.9 gr Bullseye.
