Hey,
I just wanted to sound off on the SAR 1. I bought one about a year ago to add to the AK103 that I already have.
One thing that I didn't like was the crappy slappy trigger it had made by our skilled friends at Century Intl. Arms. I bought a new trigger group from K-VAR out of Las Vegas, and installed it myself. after seeing where the parts of the trigger group were interacting, I smoothed out the areas with a stone I use for sharpening knives( a stone from Spyderco- it's triangular) and I used crest toothpaste after to "lap" the areas. I am very pleased now with the trigger. Hopefully you already have a decent trigger
in your AK now.
I have put about 1000 rounds thru mine, I used it in two 3-gun matches, it runs like the normal AK-jam-free.
You may already know this, but on the sight of the AK, the rearmost setting is an upside down "U". That is point blank range, and to AKs that is 10 Meters. If you are dead-on at 10 meters, then you will be dead-on at 300 meters and then you can slide the sight elevation to 100M and you're on target, slide to 2 and you're on 200m, etc.
AK's and Glocks- the only two weapons that don't give you any crap! enjoy. K-Var also has U.S. Made furniture sets in black and ODgreen that are pretty nice if you ever want to upgrade. you lose your trapdoor though.
