$250 - I'd be doing the happy dance too!!!!!!!

Pat Cannon,
Where did you get 5 shot speed strips?

Pat Cannon,
Where did you get 5 shot speed strips?

Just chopped it off with a pocket knife. But, somebody has since pointed out that leaving it full length gives you a 'handle' on either end, so that's how I carry them now. (Plus then it's also good for the GP100 or Security Six I might have to get soon!)

Pat, thanks for the tip on the clipdraw. Very cool design. I just installed the silver version, as I thought it went with the stainless better. Still waiting on the rosewood inserts from Lettgrips, though; they were out of stock. Couple more weeks, I guess. Then I'll have to post an updated picture.

Oh, and on the six round speed strips, why not just carry the sixth round?

I've had a couple SP101's, and it is the one revolver I always regretted getting rid of. Missed it so much in fact I put one in .357 on layaway today on my way to work. It's a very versatile piece and lends well to customizations IMO.

Ditto to Pat,

I have the same setup for carry. I love how the gun hides real well against my gut, and doesn't hurt the jewells when I sit down or drive. Hard to see with just a t-shirt on and rounded enough to be comfortable. The hogue monogrip is super comfortable and controls the .357 round really well. I just wish they would come out with a monogrip that has the clip built in, like that other brand (Bianchi I think) has for S&W. I am thinking about having it bead blasted to resist scratching and glare next.

Cool. I figured the black went with the Hogue grip.

Maybe I should in case I drop one. I just thought maybe it would confuse me. Or maybe I didn't want the extra weight. Though if it was that, I guess I wouldn't have picked the SP101. ;)

So what's the deal with those clips pat? How/where does it clip? (sorry if i missed something already in the thread).

I'm not Pat but I have the same setup. The clip just hooks over your waistband but under your belt. Actually a belt isn't even needed. I wear mine when running with running shorts. I prefer appendix carry so the gun disappears under a t-shirt.

You attach a small mounting plate to the frame of the gun with some sort of industrial strength two-sided tape. The clip itself attaches to the mounting plate with two screws. You can remove the clip for holster carry if you like while leaving the mounting plate in place. And if you want to remove the plate, it's a simple matter of prying the plate off the tape and pealing the tape off the gun. Extra tape strips and extra screws are provided. Very slick idea, and well executed.

Congrats -- I appreciate my SP101 3" more and more every time I take it to the range.

It's gotten to the point that, in situations where I could CHL either my S&W 340PD or the SP101, the Ruger goes with me 9 times out of 10.

For personal defense, check out the 125 gr offerings from Double Tap Ammo...wow. I chrono'd 1540 fps from the Ruger a few weeks back. ( http://www.doubletapammo.com/php/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21_27&products_id=48 )

Great price on a great gun!! I highly recommend this gun to anyone!

I slapped some Secret Service grips on it from Eagle Grips and love it even more. Have fun with it!

Nice grips! Actually, I'm still waiting on a set of rosewood inserts I ordered from Lettgrips.com. Out of stock, with a four week expected delivery time! Oh well, that gives me the pleasure of further anticipation ... :D

Will post a pic or two when the inserts are installed.

:) I've owned SPs since the second year Ruger started making them. I love the SP. Powerful, Strong and easy to conceal. Did I mention accurate.

Only problem I know with an SP is the ability to reload quickly using a "speedloader" mine always hang up on the factory grips.

Got the inserts from Lettgrips. Here's an updated pic with the inserts and the Clipdraw installed. One happy camper here ...

Congratulations on your purchase. They are great little guns.

With regard to grips, don't overlook the Pachmayr Compac grips. I used rubber Hogues for years and only recently tried the Pachmayr Compacs. They are superb and easier to conceal than either the stock grips or the Hogues. YMMV.

Yeah, but those SP-101s tend to fall to pieces if shot more than about 50 times, so take it easy! They're very fragile. (And if you believe that, then PM me. I've got a bridge to sell you!)

Great gun!
