I know many people (including myself) don't put much stock in HF tools.

However, IMO it's a good place to pick up some incidentals as well as an opportunity for new reloaders just starting out to obtain some decent gear.

There's a parking lot sale this weekend, but here are a few items I found on sale this month:

  • ammo box - 4.99 - small but usable
  • calipers - 10.99 - decent enough to start
  • led headlamp - 4.99 - good for lighting up the press
  • ear protection - 2.99 - obvious
  • eye protection 1.99 - obvious
  • brush set - 1.99 - for cleaning
  • safe - 59" - 339.99 - decent price and can hold rifles
  • aluminum case - 11.9 - hand gun size
  • stacking bin 3.99 - can attach to some progressives for bullets or brass
  • bench with peg board/lighting and outlet 99.99 - this is a really good deal for an inexpensive bench if anyone needs (I built my own but I would buy this)

If you're a member (costs 29.99) the deals are really pretty good.

Hope that helps someone

There are definitely a few things they sell that are a ton of bang for your buck. Things like calipers and mics are so inexpensive there that people turn their nose at them. I have compared both the Harbor Freight calipers and mics with some gauge pins against my Starrett's and they are exactly dead on down to .0005.

It just didn't make sense to me to use my $600 Starrett's on lubed bullets but it does make sense to use my $10 pair from Harbor Freight:)

Their powder coating gun is also fantastic for those who want to powder coat their bullets sans shake and bake.

Harbor Freight calipers and such are Pittsburgh Tool brand. They are hit or miss. You might get a great set, or you might get a set that won't return to zero or just isn't accurate. But for the small money, they're worth a gamble.

I'm a machinist and know there can be value in having a second pair of cheap tools. Sometimes a job requires abusing a tool, so use the cheap one.

I've got a Harbor Freight store 20 minutes from my house and I stop in once in a while. Some of their tools and deals are good.

There's a harbor freight store near me. I buy things there like bulk zip ties, and cheap emergency tools to keep in the truck- things like that.

I use their calipers, ultrasonic cleaner, vibratory tumbler and #24 walnut grit as reloading staples.

Some of their stuff is ...ok. But if it has an electrical cord coming out of it.

It`s crap! Or put another way.....................Buyer beware!!

yep, I don't buy anything with a motor from them, or anything steel that is going to be used hard. I like their sandpaper fine, and their steel punch set is so soft it might as well be brass, which is what I was looking for anyway......

I just bought their 26" 16-drawer tool chest combo for my reloading/gunsmiffing corner in my basement, it's quite nice for $319.99 (had a coupon). It's going to hold a lot of stuff. Wheels are crappy, but I'm not moving it so I didn't put those on, or the handle on the side. Just needed a big stationary tool chest and it's perfect.

I use their ammo boxes. As was mentioned, be careful on their electrical stuff. I bought one of the 4 conductor trailer connector and wired my trailer light with it. Then my lights didn't work. After some tests, it turned out that the connector was bad.

Most of their stuff I look at, as a kit; which means it will take some work for it to work properly.
