What happened to Bull-X? I can't get their site to load. Are they still in biz?

I'm looking to load up some .44 Magnum loads using a 240 grain SWC at about 1100 FPS. If not Bull-X what brands of cast bullets would you all recommend? I want something hard enough to go 1100 without leading problems.

Alternately I could use a FMJ flat-point....but I can't seem to find any in that bullet weight.

Suggestions?

Any linkage to retail sites I can buy this stuff is appreciated!

Thanks.

Miester bullets are quite good and probably available locally. Penn bullets are raved about but I have not tried them yet. Any decently cast and lubed bullet can go 1100 without leading, so your requirement is not very tough. Pure lead bullets could possibly even go 1100 without leading if they are sized correctly and lubed well. Buy what you can find and go for it.

In my experience, Lasercast bullets are comparable to the Bull-X.

If you want to get more authentic Keith style bullets, try Leadhead's

or Dry Creek.

These are a little more expensive, but are actually Keith designs. Also, with either Leadheads's or Dry Creek, when you call with a question, you are talking to the owners. Excellent and friendly customer service form both.

A very big factor on cost is the shipping distance from the manufacturer to you.

I heard Bull-X went out of business when the owner died. It is a shame, I really liked Bull-X bullets, high quality and very good prices.

I got outbid on a batch of Bull-X 45acp bullets on ebay. Final price for 1500 bullets was $36 plus shipping! Got outbid with five seconds to go. :banghead:

Bull-X

They shut down a couple of years ago. I used to use their bullets, they had good deals for ordering 10k lots. I've switched to Laser-Cast, I think their quality is a littler better.

Thanks for the info everyone. That sucks about Bull-X. :(

Is there such a thing as "cheap jacketed bullets"? I'm weighing my options out here.
