Chrome-lined barrels are a selling point for most semiautomatics, but it is rarely mentioned in bolt actions (FNH being the only one I've seen). Out of most popular bolt gun brands (Remington, Savage, Winchester, etc.) how many have hard chromed bores?

I don't think any commercial boltguns have HC'ed bores, seeing as it's usually done to increase barrel life on automatic/semi-automatic weapons and (usually) has a slightly detrimental effect on accuracy. Most people wouldn't fire a bolt action fast enough or in enough volume to make the tradeoff or additional cost worth it.

very few people have any real use for chrome lined bores on a sporting or sportac bolt gun. It can be very tricky to get good accuracy from a chrome bore, fnh happens to be quite good at it.....i dont think id want to let the current remington try figgure it out for them selves.

Unless its a military bolt gun or one thats gonna go a long time in a humid enviroment and/or a long time without a cleaning, I dont see a point.

I ask because I have been after an FNH SPR-A1 for a while now. The chrome bore wasn't really what drew me to it, but it just made me curious.

My Type 99 has a chrome lined bore. The Japs were some of the first ones to start doing it to their battle rifles. While it is understandably not highly desirable on hunting rifles that only get a box of ammo per year and long range precision rigs that squeeze every bit of accuracy out of the rifle, I do think chrome lining would make a lot of sense on a Scout rifle, survival rifle, or something of that sort that might conceivably be used extensively in the field without much cleaning, and which doesn't require sub-MOA accuracy. But nowadays, I think nitriding makes more sense than chrome lining. It provides the same benefits but maintains a barrel's accuracy.
