i've been having a hard time getting my pacific salt spyderco sharp. i just can't seem to get a good edge on it?:( i got the knife last summer and really like just can't get it sharp?
i don't have any trouble sharpening my other knives crkt,gerber,case,kershaw..etc.. any idea's to what i'm doing wrong? are spyderco's generally hard to sharpen(this is my first one)..thanks for any info:)

Your Pacific Salt uses a special H-1 steel that does not rust because it uses nitrogen instead of carbon in its composition. Because this is a true non-rusting steel, it has charachteristics a bit different from most other knives.

Users of these 'salt' knives have commented that it will take a few sharpenings to get the steel to the right level of 'sharpness'. Give it some patience and a few more sharpenings.

I have had success in making my Tasman Salt sharp enough to pop hair from my arms.

That H1 is a beast to sharpen. Once you get it sharp, try to touch it up regularly and not let it really get dull. I've got a Sharpmaker, and about once a week or so I give the knives I actually carry a couple of passes each on the fine stones to maintain the edges. Makes life much easier than spending forever trying to reprofile a dull edge, as I often find myself doing for my partners who think that "that crazy knife guy" has magic powers that can easily fix their badly abused edges.:)

Use a tough stone - diamond preferred - with persistence and remember to keep a consistent angle! If you don't you'll wind up with a rounded (dull) edge and a lot of frustration. Resist the urge to give up or even pause to check if the knife is "sharp yet" until you're confident it could be.

This will give rise to more chances to throw off your angle, which will make it harder to actually sharpen the knife, which will in turn annoy you.
